Achieved last's years goal I guess, I just wanted to be profitable online and move up stakes. Deposited $200, withdrew $8k, leaving about $2k for my BR. Started at 10NL, currently at 100NL with mix of 50NL+200NL since my site doesn't have constant 100NL tables running.

This year's goal is to grind my way up to 500NL and become a profitable reg there.

Played a 1.5hr session 1 table of 100NL, 5 tables of 50NL this morning. +$142.13, which brings YTD at +$544.02. BR currently at $2,582.63.

Current BR: $2,733.70

Played a 2hr session. Spewed in a couple of hands.

Was like, yay ace on the flop! Then I saw the J for villain's set and stopped watching the table. Noticed the pot got shipped my way, and was wtf? Then saw the turn and river.

I really don't expect villain to call river with a J with how the hand played out. I expected only Kxhh and KJ combos to be able to call river.

2 hands from the session that I'd appreciate any feedback on:

First one I think I played well overall. Problem I have with this hand is the river sizing, as I wasn't sure about making it the sizing I did, or just jam cuz vs rec. Was an awkward moment for me since I block tons of aces and block the nut flush so I didn't know what part of villain's range I was trying to target with my raise sizing otr. Reviewing the hand I think shoving river would have been better since villain can have some 9x they won't 3b river with and baby flushes would call shove, not sure if they would 3b river with them though.

Villain in this hand is reggish though leans towards playing abc. They do iso limpers a lot. I can go either way with AQo here, either flatting and keeping rec in the pot, or squeeze just to take it down preflop.
Once we got HU otr I didn't expect villain to shove since they should know that I know that they are super strong here, and I'm not calling river with something like AK. I'm just curious if AQ should be the bottom of my calling range here since it will be the bottom of villain's value range otr, they won't have played KJcc this way for instance, they will have AA, QQ, 99, 77, AQ only. 99/77 I don't give 100% credit to since they may not size it this way all the time because of MW pot and board texture. When looking at my range I don't have 99/77 since I would have shipped them on turn and I don't have QQ/AA here. So my value range looks like Axcc, AK(25%), 97s/68s (20%), KQdd, KJdd, QJdd, KJcc, and AQ.
Also, I like having the Qd since it will block villain's bdfds, and having the Ac blocker doesn't really matter since I didn't expect them to be semi-bluffing in this spot anyways.

On the Q7 hand, what do you represent? You xr, xc, xr with lots of draws on the board and every draw misses on the river. I think the mistake is not barreling the turn and jamming rivers. A hand like 75 or lower sets are surely bombing this turn. Other than that, good luck in 2016, will sub!

Played a 6hr session. Started the session at 50NL since there were no other tables. Played bad which I blame on my sleepiness since I fired a session up 10 minutes after I rolled out of bed. Lost 4 BI's at 50NL, saw there were 200NL tables running so jumped in there. Was doing well until I got aipf w/ KK<AA for 275bb vs a reg.



That tilted me a bit so I jumped up to one table of 500NL after losing 2 BI's at 200NL. None of the regs there know who I am tho was playing with one of them at 200NL earlier today so I have an idea how they play and vise versa. Ran well at 500NL making 2.5 BI's in 200 hands, and made $530 profit for the session despite being $400 below ev. Degenning done... for now anyways.

Not sure if this is just spew or what. Villain seems like a reg. I feel I need to bet river to fold out villain's 99-JJ, not sure if they call me with Qx. I shouldn't have many bluffs by river since all my fd's get there as well as 56, and I still have 88/44/33.


I don't think I'm ever good at showdown, so decided to turn my hand into a bluff mainly to fold out Kx, and QQ and weak Ax if they can play them like this. I don't think I have many bluffs here, maybe KJs tho I still have sd value with that (and my JJ). I block QJ and I can easily rep it as well as TT, 55, KT, AK (wasn't 3b+ them at the time cuz I wanted recs in the pot). Is this an ok spot to turn my hand into a bluff? Should I have just tried to get to sd?

I wasn't getting outta line, nor floating ppl wide, was pretty much on my A game at 500NL today so I'm not sure how I feel about villain's play here. Villain is a solid reg , I'm an unknown to them but I should be looking reggish by this point. 3rd player in with us was the rec at the table.



I think I would have like it better if they held the A since less calls otf+ can rep the nfd knowing opponents can't have it, similar to the A8 hand I posted, where my opponent couldn't have the nut flush since I held the A.
Obviously lucky that I had pretty much the nuts so I didn't have to tank fold rivers with something like QQ here.

Work on mental game/consistently B+ game play this year imo. Develop a routine or a method.

Mental game has never been my strong suit, though my tilt is gradually getting better. I think it's ok to degen once in awhile if prepared to redeposit.

Played a 1.5hr session 2 tabling 200NL. Made back almost all my EV from prior session with one hand, getting in AKs vs KK and flopping a flush.

Starting to experiment with a smaller opening size, 2.6bb instead of 3bb at 200NL. Few reasons for doing it: Getting 3b a lot more since tables are full of regs, so sizing-wise it makes it easier for me to defend against a 16-17bb 3b vs 18-20bb. Other regs' ranges seem wider than I'm used to and I want to open up my range so I don't become an ez target on certain board textures. Not making a drastic change in my opening ranges, but loosening up slightly in earlier positions.

I need to start working on my SB game, at 200NL+ I'm getting 3b from BB a lot more and am unsure if I want to open less and defend more, or start a limp-call/limp-raise strategy. I don't want to start 4b bluffing at a higher frequency since I remember all of the headaches I had doing that when I first moved up to 50NL.

If you classify him as an abc reg, then I think you can make an exploitable fold here. What bluffs do you give him for balancing here? Given the 4 way preflop and flop action involving fish, I don't think the abc reg will ever have a bluff here except his combo Tc8c, TJcc and KJcc type hands. I agree that villain doesn't have many flush, but even if he jams all sets + above hands, we're looking at 9 value (77,99,QQ,AA,KcJc), and 2 bluff ( Tc8c,TcJc).


EDIT: Now that I think more about it, this spot is really villain dependent. I'd look at the cbet multiway stay along with 3 barrel stat. Multiway readless I'm still more in the folding camp, it's fine to be exploitable if no one's exploiting you. Vs a good aggressive reg this may be more of a call, as they're capable of turning TPWK into bluffs by the river to balance.

Versus 2 villains? Very doubtfull imo.

I only have around 550 hands on villain, but haven't seen anything so far that indicates they are capable of taking this line with something like JTcc. I don't have my hud set up to differentiate from HU and MW pots. They have a 60% flop cbet and 11% turn cbet. I still don't know if I like calling or folding on river here vs that specific villain. I ended up tank calling, villain had AQ.


Only time I have fun playing poker is when I play outside my bankroll though :c

After 5hrs of 6 tabling 50NL and running 5 BI's below ev in 2700 hands, I finally got unstuck and can proudly say I just made $2/hr.

2nd time in a week this regfish hits straight w/ KJ when I flop a set of queens, so annoying...


I'm continuing to open wider from UTG/MP positions though I still use 3bb opens at 50NL. Not really sure if it's helping my game yet, will have to get a large sample size which will take some time. I'm also trying out 3betting more with them as well as defending vs 3bs. Mentally, it makes me feel better.

Some examples:


I don't think defending w/ 43s vs 3b is +ev, and I don't know how terrible it is vs an aggressive 3 bettor even when we have position.


Not sure if I want to be cbetting this flop or have this hand in my x/c or x/r range for balancing purposes.



Since my range is wider than before, I need to re-think how I want to go about playing some board textures with my range. No idea what I should be doing with stuff like this yet.

Dang I didn't expect him to jam AQ there for value with those stats. Guess I learned something today.

43s is loose in the co, but it's not that loose. 54s is definitely an open for example.

Definitely playing a bit too loose. We don't need to open 43s in MP or 86s in UTG, especially with BB being a SS. I think that if you are going to open your range up, you need to first make a plan with what you're going to do on different flops and against different opponents. I myself made a hand chart and I would go through every type of hand to see why this hand is in my range and what I'm going to do on certain textured boards. For instance, I put low suited connectors in my BTNpfr. But I'm not cbetting on two broadway flops or flops that hit his range much harder than my actual hand.

Also, see if you can read The Mental Game of Poker. It helps talk about variance and how to not tilt. Mental game is as important or more important than the actual game. Good luck!

If it's a passive game and fish in blinds I don't think either open is particularly bad.

Played a 1hr session yesterday morning and a 7 hr session last night/this morning at 200NL. Wasn't running well and was just bleeding chips. At the beginning of the session my first four 4bs were getting 5b shipped on. Felt like I wasn't hitting many draws and wasn't flopping any sets. Didn't have much info on regs and I might have bluff caught too much during the session. Looking at them, most seem ok, a few were bad.

This line I sometimes takes annoys me to no end when it fails. Thinking about whether or not I want to keep it in my arsenal. It does help protect a portion of my range and I take the same line sometimes with semibluffing hands too.

Last hand what's your reasoning behind checking river? I feel like BB range is wide here with enough naked Kx on top of 3pairs to make river bet profitable.
