Happy New Year everyone! Going for a fresh start and planning to grind my way up from the micros to small stakes this year. I have previously tried to grind up a roll twice in the past, having the last attempt fizzle out due to not taking it seriously enough and playing outside of my BRM.

So I have moved to a different site. I was playing on 888 for NJ players before and there really wasn't that many players on it. I took a look at the other options which all seemed very dismal, with WSOP for NJ being the best option it seems. The same situation arised as with 888, where there were no regular 2NL/4NL tables so I am starting at 10NL. I've deposited $200 to start with a 20 BI roll. I will take poker a bit more seriously and try my best to stick to the game plan. My overall plan is to grind my way up to 50NL-100NL where I can start withdrawing decent money.

So for this month of January I will be strictly sticking to 10NL and not moving up even if I am rolled to shot take a higher limit. I want to get in decent volume, so around 40k+ hands this month.

My goal is to beat the stake for 10bb/100, which in turn will net me around $400 bringing my roll up to $600. This is just a very general guideline but something to keep in mind and to keep me focused for this month.

Played ok for my first day back, overall probably played my B game. Got a few coolers and made a few hero calls where I could have folded. Player pool seems soft, saw a few regs, not really sure what my opinion on them is yet.

So after that hand this hand comes up 5 minutes later. Given how villain played the previous hand made me lean towards a river call here.

Played for about 4 hours today. Overall I think I played better than yesterday, closer to my A game. Might be making a few small mistakes doing some unnecessary triple barrel bluffs, however some do go through. I have a $200 cash bonus that I need to unlock in increments of $10 which shouldn't be too hard for me to do, I think I have 3 months to clear that. I also have 7 first time depositor's $100 freeroll tickets for my first deposit which I have to use in the first week. I missed the first day, but I played today's freeroll. I was impressed with the tournament structure, blind increments were kept at a nice pace, and rounds lasted for 10 mins, much different from any other site's freerolls I've experienced where they are mainly turbos. There were only 18 entrances, and it paid out top 4. I finished 3rd for $20.

Villain is a TAG, but they have been raising BTN 53% of the time, so my 3b was for value. Given the positions, I think I can 5b shove this however I don't have any reads on this player pool's 4b tendencies.


Probably a fold otr vs this taggish villain, didn't have many hands with this villain yet.


Not really an interesting hand, but was happy that I was focused enough to properly size flop bet for turn shove.


Failed triple barrel bluff


Was happy with my flop play since I min donked to induce a raise, however not sure if 3b flop was good. When villain called my flop 3b, I jammed turn as it does complete KJ, also can help villain if they have QJ, QK for straight draws, AQ probably calls aswell.


Villain has been 3b'ing me frequently, although I have no blockers, I decided to 4b bluff with this hand.

try to scare him off his hand instead of check-calling.


Bluffing too much isn't profitable at 10NL where you have tons of calling stations.Bet for value when you have it and you'll get called by worst.

@WuRRRR thanks for your reply! You gave an interesting way to play AQ. I don't normally donk on that flop w/ my specific hand vs. a taggish UTG open, so I don't mind x/c there. I think x/r ott could be interesting and I might fold out AK/AQ/AJ by repping 2p or a set which might be nice, and can if call ott I can bomb river.

As for not bluffing too much at 10NL, I think 10NL is where you can start doing some bluffs vs smart opponents, and even against some calling stations you can find good spots to do so.

Today I got my ass kicked basically, dropping about 8 BI's. Maybe I should cut back a little on bluffing for my next session. I would like to think I am just running into the top of ppl's ranges and that the bluffs I execute should be profitable since I should be able to fold out a large portion of villain's ranges.

Villain is a bad reg and 3b's me quite often. I make my 4b slightly larger for value. We flop well and my plan was to x/shove flop however it gets checked back. Since I made the 4b large stack sizes are a bit weird, maybe I should have x/shoved turn? I think getting to SD cheap maybe a viable option given that this board is somewhat bad for us, but that feels a bit too weak to me.

Maybe could have gotten to a cheaper showdown here. Villain's 3b range is super wide, like 30% vs me.

Such a brutal rake.

It's about 5% rake. I never really paid attention to online rake %. At my casinos they do a 4% capped rake for 100NL, I forget how much the cap is, and at 500NL they do $5 per seat every dealer change. Only time where I really noticed rake was at ACR at 25NL where they would take out 1bb out of every pot for the BBJ/rake race not including normal table rake.

Ran mostly good throughout today's sessions. I received about a $10 promo reward from I don't know what, but I won't complain. I consciously Played a bit more taggish today since I wasn't taken many pots down preflop, and wasn't really able to even get heads up.

Played with this villain a few times before, they have a 3b of 12%, first time they 4b vs me. The 4b sizing compared to their remaining stack was kind of confusing for me and didn't really know how to interpret it, though I excluded AK, 77-QQ just since I think those would shove. So I was left with AA, KK, and bluffs.

Had 2 good sessions yesterday. Got into 1 weird spot with a villain that I probably played wrong but it worked out for me, had 1 other hand I tried repping the nuts but didn't do me any good since villain had it.

This situation has been happening to me quite a bit where I have a read that I'm best otf, and play flop accordingly to get a psb shove for the turn, and villain hits turn to call my shove.


I like the raise ott, however when villain calls I should probably give up otr. Not sure if this player is capable of folding an ace here either.


Discussed this hand with a buddy, came to the conclusion giving up on river vs villain's range with my specific holding is probably best.

This is a spot I double barrel as I pick up equity ott. I give up otr, however villain bets river and it doesn't make too much sense to me as I expect 2p/sets to raise prior to the river, and I don't expect villain to get to river with a naked 6. Most Ax should be checking back river as well, so I think villain is weighted towards more busted sd/fd hands than value hands.

Finished up my first week. Overall I am happy with the volume I got in, 8.2k hands Am I happy with my play? I feel I did well overall. Made some few minor mistakes, and had a few hands that were spew. Kind of demoralizing when I dropped 9 BI's in one day, however I reviewed my sessions and I played well, just didn't get into many good spots, got cooler'd a lot, and ran way below EV.

Today's sessions were ok, I dropped 1.5 BI's. Kinda a downer since I had many good spots where I got a lot of value from, but had a few villains making things hard for me at the tables. Am about 2 BI's below EV today as well.

Wasn't playing that well this morning, and should of stopped my session sooner, dropped almost 7 BI's.

Playing like absolute garbage atm. I think getting into some spots and losing pots consecutively where I should be winning some of the time is making me play tilted. Top pairs never good vs aggro fish, sizing up pots to gii otr where I expect to get called only to have villain river 2p, flopping 2p only to get outdrawn by better 2p or the board pairing giving someone with an overpair a better hand, getting called super light vs every type of villain in spots where I should be nutted, just overall been a rough few days.

Took a day off from playing on the 9th. Decided to tighten up my play and then slowly go back into a laggy style. Still some spots on the river I think I should be folding and that is effecting my win rate some. Did a sweat session today and had some of my leaks pointed out to me. So I will be making better sized iso's, refrain c-betting some flops, betting bigger on all streets for value, and taking more time to consider ranges.

On a side note, I didn't place in anymore of the first deposit freerolls. Unlocked $40 out of $200 first deposit bonus. The point reward system is weird and I have no clue how it works, not sure if having the deposit bonus is effecting my points, which I hope it is, otherwise the system sucks since I was getting a better rate at 888. I already paid $233.30 in rake and only have about $3 in convertible points. WSOP has crap ton of different status tiers, I've already been though like 6 or so tiers, almost to the next one, but I think when I spoke to CS they said every $1 in rake is 2 pts which at the time I wasn't even bronze status, but converting my RB for that, then I should be at at least $4.66 in convertible points, and should be much higher since I'm in higher tiers now.
There is also a promo running where they pay players 40bb if their aces get cracked, I think it might be once per day for the month of January since I've gotten that bonus 4 times now. There was also an $8 bonus that I have no idea for.

Started loosening up my vpip/pfr yesterday's and this morning's sessions. Was doing 6 tables, but probably better if I stick to 4 tables for now so I can focus on bet sizing which I am still missing a lot of value from under betting some of my hands, though I am getting better and and happy with my progress so far. I noticed some of the few regs from my other site I was playing before are now on this site which is interesting.

Played 2 sessions, one last night and one this morning. Ran like god in this morning's session and ran about 5 BI's above EV. Overall I am happy with my plays, I'm picking good boards to c-bet, making good bet sizings, and taking good lines. I did have a few small pots where I made some spew moves, but as I keep working on my game I'll fix those leaks. Today I totally spewed in a 3b pot for 140bb's which I somehow won at showdown but I am really upset about my play.

Was really tired yesterday so I only got in 900 hands. Made up for it this morning playing 1.1k hands. This morning's session started a bit rough, getting stationed a lot postflop and was getting x/r'd a ton so I had to cut back my aggression a bit. Started catching cards, and also started calling villains down light. Ran 2 BI's below EV.

This hand happened early on in this morning's session. Not sure what to even make of this hand as villain played it so weird. I guess I could have made a smaller value bet otr, but when I made my turn bet, I sized it to shove river for value.


Same villain in these next two hands, kept calling me down light.

Played about 900 more hands last night, so got in 2k hands yesterday which I'm happy about. Been really aggressive lately, stats are around 27/21 the past few days. My redline isn't on the incline, but at least it's flat.

Trying to defend more from the BB which is 10vpip lower than my SB. I tried last night but it feels like I'm bleeding money when I do for the most part. Will have to adjust.
Felt I misplayed one hand last night where I made too thin of a VB otr maybe. Board was J66KT with a backdoor flush and I thought I could get value from Jx since I triple barrelled. Made my first 5b bluff in a long time with A2, got called by KK, rivered trip deuces. Overall I feel like I am playing very well and getting better each day.

Played 1k hands so far today. Been playing and running well the past few days, hope this keeps up until the end of the month so I can have a healthy bankroll for 20NL next month.

Had another good session this morning profiting 6.5 BI's. This afternoon I got knocked out pretty quick from a gold status freeroll, gii otf w/ JJ vs villain's KT board Txx and villain turned a K. This afternoon's session was short, they kept closing out tables for a maintenance I think. Played ok but didn't get any good spots and dropped 1.5 BI's so I guess my heater is over for now. Also, after reading through 2+2 forums, found out the regs I was noticing from the other site coming to wsop site are actually still on 888. 888 and wsop now share player pool from 2NL-50NL. Hopefully in the future they will share player pools for 100NL+

Super bumpy session this morning. Was 6 tabling and got into some good spots, hands weren't holding up though. Was some aggrodonks at the tables, one that was a reg that hit and runs which is annoying, and it's definitely high variance to play with them.
