I'll keep on updating this thread I guess, 1-2 updates a week.

Anyway, I took a couple days off to work on some aspects of my mental game. Started playing again on Friday and am not running so great atm, however I'm playing well and I'm glad I took the time off to address some mindset issues. I think that I'll be able to put in high quality volume at a much higher consistency from now on, and despite being in a lot of MU I still feel confident that things will turn around in due time.

How much does your volume change between holidays/school ?

Think of it as a small hit like all small bumps which overtime become small to your overall lifetime graph. It'll only look ugly if you stop now.

Not that much, I'm almost always outside during holidays, I always try to aim for 15 hours a week.

Anyway, first day back at the tables in awhile. Focus was good, didn't play super well due to being rusty. Amazing how tough poker is, a few days off and your range v range thinking becomes a lot slower.

Note to self: Next time I take a long break, do hand reviews for warm up and/or play lower stakes for a few days till I ease back in.

I'm in a lot of MU atm, will work hard to get out.

Febuary:



I played so little, so bad in Feb. I've had like 1 winning session in the last 10. Motivation was low. Quality of play was bad.

I fixed a lot of things and feel much more confident with the quality of my play now. Being in this much MU sucks and it hits your motivation pretty hard, but I can't let that affect me any longer. I only put in like 40 hours in Febuary but that could have been like 60 or even 70 if it weren't for all the times I was lazy/unmotivated. It's easy to tell yourself to play more but getting stacked every time you sit down makes it harder.


This month, I am CONFIDENT I will hit 30k hands. I will do an extremely good job of scheduling and staying organized. I have a responsibility to both my backer and myself. I've laid out a schedule that forces me to play a minimum of 15 horus a week no matter what. All I have to do is stick by it.

Work hard and put in that volume and the results will follow. It's easy avoid grinding and find reasons not to play when the going gets tough. The real test of poker players is how they respond in the face of adversity. I'm fully confident that if you put in solid table hours and make the effort to review hands weekly in study group that you will be back to crushing. That may happen sooner, that may happen later, who knows, short term variance is out of your control, but in the long run the results are inevitable if you work hard and do your best and adhere to professional habits.

Hey guys, long time no update

Anyway, had a long talk with my coach the other day. I'm going to start updating this thread daily from now on as a way to track my progress. Things have obviously not been going well lately. I've tried very hard to get back to a consistent pace of volume and while it's not going super well yet, I'm slowly getting there. Made plans to play 15 hours last week and will end the week with about 12 hours probably, which is a bit disappointing as I was fairly confident I could hit 15.

Didn't account for a few things like pregame, and also while it sounded easy, I had to cut my session short a few times because I kept losing and was second-guessing myself every decision. That's what happens when you go on a big DS I guess, can't do anything about it.

I've also gone back down to playing 400 for awhile, the important thing right now isn't clearing MU ASAP, it's putting consistent high quality volume, winning some and regaining my confidence, and then moving back up to 1k.

Anyway, next week I am aiming for 20 hours of poker. I will post the schedule on here tonight so my backers can see it and there is more accountability on my part.

Nearly hit my stoploss today at 400 so had to cut session short and end week at 10ish hours. After tomorrow all updates will be detailed, include hands, and not have EV.

Played a bit over 2 hours today (/3), could and should have gotten 3 but couldn't stop watching the new season of House of Cards so I started late lol. Not many hands cuz tables just werent popping up at the beginning and had to 1 and 2 table for awhile.

Prepared well for session and played well. And booked my first win in what feels like a gazzillion years.

Nice job. The A8 is close. I'm sure "W" from study group would tell you to bet river. I don't know that they turn much weak showdown value into a bluff when checked to here, so their river betting range is mostly 2pair and a few KcJx type hands but I don't think there are enough missed draws to make check/calling the play, and I think can have tons of one pair hands like 66/88/65/76/87/98/J9/Q9/K9/JT/QT/KT/Ax (some of those combos offsuit with one club obviously) and we see sets raise flop or turn often and AJ+ 3bet pre often and although they don't bluff catch those hands at a very high frequency given the large amount of combos they only need to call at a low frequency to offset the times we get called by better to make the bet +EV.

Hours played: 3(/3). Nothing too special, B+ game. Kinda got distracted at a few times following the primaries but overall played well I think.

Hands looks fine. Folding to the turn x/minraise would be too tight, and once he checks river it looks like a clear value bet, and we obviously don't like it when he checkraises river but given his line I think we can safely assume there is enough of a level of fishiness and erratic play in his game that we can't fold our hand given pot odds. Nice hand.

Thursday:

Played 1.5 hour (/7). Lost a few hours due to an unexpected saint pattys event, and then hit my stoploss rather quickly so had to stop there.

Friday: 5 hours
Saturday: 2 hours
Sunday: 3 hours

During my last session with my coach, I came up with a bankroll plan that involved me only playing 400 till my BR hit a certain amount. Tables just weren't popping up today and I didn't want to play 200 so after 2 tabling for way too long I added in 600 as well, and got stacked there. That irritated me, the money is irrelevant but I shouldn't have forgotten the purpose of that plan in the first play, to develop discipline which I sorta lack and also to regain confidence. Not gonna make that mistake again.

Bunch of weird hands I'm unsure about today, gotta message coach soon about them.

Games were good, spent a huge amount of time on warmup, played well, unfortunately ran pretty bad and hit my stoploss, and then another BI finishing up the orbits, so had to stop.



Eh, lost a few all ins where I was favorite so nothing much I could do. Shame because I felt fine and was ready to keep playing.
