Lots of people like the Big Green Egg. If you don't mind the charcoal clean up then do it. Personally if I was still charcoal/stick smoking and didn't want to blow my roll I still think Weber Smokey Mountain is a hard one to beat. You can also get a fan setup to have auto temp control.
Traeger I think is still on par with your mid range pellet smokers and they haven't lost much quality over the years if at all, but there are many competing brands on the market now that offer the same or more. I'd point you in the direction of Camp Chef if you go pellet though and want a real grill you can still use. You can get a Slide N Grill model and have some direct flame high temp grilling (500F).. or you get a sidekick accessory that attaches to it along with the bbq box and you can grill/sear on that. I have seen it reach temps of ~900F, and very common to see it hit in the 700's. Perfect for finishing off a steak.
If you want a med/higher end pellet grill for home use... Recteq (or Rec Tec) all the way.
I've looked at some other high end pellet smokers (more expensive than Recteq), but I didn't really see any glaring upgrades that made it worth more.
Honorable mention: Green Mountain Grill
If you go pellet grill make sure the controller you get on yours is PID. I think pretty much every company runs PID now, but there are still a couple stragglers. WiFi is pretty much standard now too.
