but there are some fairly nitty (by Texas standards) 1/2-1/3 games in various card clubs across the state. in addition to the below average play, since it’s time raked, and the buyins are still fairly deep universally, those are still probably 8/10. Better than a reg infested 2/5 game at Winstar or Vegas, I’m guessing.

jerry Jones is an oil guy too right? lotta money in oil for sure.

I’ve lost way too much money to guys in cowboy hats and boots smh
Happy 31st Anniversary to Jerry Jones and His Cowboys. DALLAS - On this day in 1989, Jerry Jones purchased the Dallas Cowboys for $140 million. The purchase made history as the first time anyone had ever paid more than $100 million for a sports team and drastically changed the trajectory of America's team.

Could probably sell for 5 billion now. Oil is good, but not that good.

QFT. Read that again, please.
(1) save a lot. seriously.
(2) drop it in low cost diversified funds. Please.
(3) have a sane macro asset balance. Though I argue this 3rd point is much less important than points 1 and 2. 100% S&P 500 would be reasonable for a 25 year old. Add some bonds when you're 35, or sooner, whatever. But do (1) and (2) now, no matter how old you are. I may get flamed for the 100% comment, but see (1) and (2).

meh. at his age RTP should be focusing on rooting birds (or blokes) and having fun

if he has some character flaw that doesn't embrace that lifestyle then he should invest in fixing the character glitches so that he can embrace the lifestyle

plan B would be to invest his money into making himself better at poker and in his poker bankroll. If he's as good as he thinks he is/half as good as he aspires to be, he'll get way better returns with that than he will with some kind of balanced portfolio

Free lunch with the family beforehand. Sit in the foyer of the church during the ceremony trolling 2+2. Then hall them to the cemetery. Crisp 100 dollar bill for the effort for about 3 hours of your time. So in 1/2 poker terms that 16.6667 bigs per hour. From what I've read that's crushing.
Interesting. Do you grind funerals often? The player pool may be set to take off soon.

This. If you don't have the balls to short the market then you only have one good option:

Slightly related. What's the thing with the belt buckles? Is that like the equivalent of grills but for cowboys?

They help keep your britches from falling down, which is somethin you city folk have a real hard time with. If you don't have a nickel to spend just go to your local rodeo and win one in a calf ropin' contest.

Letting a worse hand catch up is not a mistake. Paying off worse hands is not a mistake. Folding the best hand is not a mistake. We are playing a range of hands against other ranges of hands. You can't look judge a play by looking at the outcome of a single hand. The entire strategy is important. Your thinking is results oriented.

If you get 5 callers you're almost praying for top set because "safe" flops like K82r are going to be pretty rare and it gets increasing likely that someone will have a set on the flop the more players call preflop. Your hot-and-cold EV increases as more people call, but the more players there are in the pot the harder it gets to realize your equity with 1 pair. Ideally you want to get 3-bet by someone so you can shovel more money in pre-flop.

On the other hand if you open 66 UTG you are totally happy with 5 people calling.
When I open AA UTG I want 8 callers if I'm not allowed to get 3-bet.

That would be fine. Prolly very good. If you're going to go to this level of detail, then adding some Russell 2000 (10%???, by taking it from the S&P or other/combo???) would be good too. Like why not include some small caps in a diversified mix. Honestly, a vanguard or fidelity or whoever retirement in 2060 (or whatever date way the hell out in the future) fund (blends it all for you and changes the mix toward more conservative as you approach your retirement date) is good too. Better?

Belts can do that on their own though. Even a cloth belt or those no buckle belts. I'm interested about the buckles.

Do they supply the rope? Also that would require winning.

So how are buckles rated. Bigger is better? Is it baller to have diamonds on them? Or is that poor taste?
