I like your list. You lean a little towards Rhymesayers I see.

Can't be mad at that. Our musical interests as far as hip hop goes seem pretty similar.

Yeah - there are a bunch of groups I love but individually don’t think any of them are worthy of consideration of their own ie

Cunninlynguists
Bone thugs
De la soul etc

Interested to see your favorite producers

@OS, video was fun. Song too pop-y for my taste.

Yeah same here I didn't include a bunch if I only had like a couple songs I liked or if they are just a good rapper with no songs.

Black Thought would definitely be in the mix just slipped my mind.

Production wise I really like stuff that's like Ghostface and Nas tracks

Rick Rubin
Just Blaze
Kanye
9th Wonder
J Dilla
DJ Premier
Juju
Rza
Mobb Deep

Damn I knew I missed an obvious one with Black Thought!

Producer list is legit would add these ones

Jazzy Jeff
Nujabes
Pete Rock
Mf doom
Kno

Can’t decide if Dilla or rza is the goat.

Ice hockey over blades of steel?

Yeah Garrick I didn't mean to imply that iron maiden made a million per show, just that I was surprised they were one of the most successful touring acts in the history of music... Under reflection it makes sense but I'd have never in a million years have guessed them if I had to make a top 100 list just for this year when they are often #1 or close to it

I knew some people who used to organize concerts and and generally the bands and venues are hired out and it's the promoters who take all the risk and all the monies

there are pathways to them getting paid much more but a massive amount of risk of losing tens of thousands if a show gets cancelled or if it doesn't sell etc

I have no idea of the logistics of a band taking control like that, risk aside, it may not even be feasible. I do know a startup in Indonesia and they are trying to cutout the promoters and crowdsource concert funding for both cheaper tickets and higher band revenue but unsure if it's been working at scale

Really like that band btw, think pitchfork put me on to them way back when

Yeah, if it sounded like that was aimed at you, rick, it wasn't. Just amazes me how many people don't understand that the biggest moneymaker at any given concert is usually Ticketmaster, followed by venue, followed by ...

Blue October took two buses on one of their recent tours, one being family friendly, sober, and had at least one wife/child along at all times. One of the band members told me that was so expensive that even though they all loved it, they wouldn't do it again.

Oh didn't take any offense or anything and didn't view it as a jibe just wanted to clarify

We could crowdfund their next tour I really like that band, also did not get the rolling in cash vibe from reading their wiki

Only thing I took offense to was blades of steel snub

Tried finding it but seems to have been taken down but the Eminem x Lil Wayne performing no love was the best "live" performance I've ever seen in television and like GG I'm normally not the biggest fan of the hippy hoppy

Sorry it was great game as well. I hope you're talking about the arcade version though. That big red fight button.

Touring is just super expensive, apparently. They make money doing it, but not huge amounts, and records are just basically advertising for the tours.
Some youtube stars just rolled through the west on a whirl wind tour.
I eyeballed the # of people at the bar and figured they cannot be breaking even over gas and Airbnb.

I figured some type of pot candy. Which itself sounds like an STD.

Just had a bad session and hit my stop loss. As I was driving home I realized that I was thinking very level 0 "what is my hand" today. Usually I'm thinking around 1.5 "whats their range and if they seem good what do they put me on". Also been feeling mentally foggy the past week overall.

Very strange...
