SPC decided to help another dude fix his flat early on in the event. Because of this he stuck with her and helped her get through being sick and pushing on. A nail went through her rim on mile 205 and again he helped her fix it. SHes now at mile 215 and only 1 hr behind her goal time which is ridiculous all things considered. She most likely would not have made it this far had she not decided to stop and help him out creating that friendship.
Wow that's a great update to read. I was worried that she would struggle since she might have only brought enough water for the planned 3 hours worth of intense heat. Are there stations or something she can go to for water if she is stuck out there longer than expected?

Very unlikely. I'm guessing it's more of a warrior ethos. Even if they knew nothing about each other beforehand (or if they actively disliked each other even) there's going to be a certain amount of respect between everyone who volunteers to go through this.
