I haven't had the cares since the Oilers took out the Canucks. Some part of me felt I should be cheering for McDavid to cement his legacy as being the greatest of his generation... but most of me doesn't really care.

I think we were there in September IIRC. Zipped out to The Bay of Fundy / Hopewell Rocks twice (one at high tide, one at low tide so we could walk the beach), and enjoyed a couple off downtown Moncton meals, but our hotel was comedy.

was planning on heading west

but then there were massive opportunities going on with nba/nhl playoffs

so i stared at screens 14-18 hours a day

it was financially beneficial, but then went into severe burnout and once playoffs chilled had no motivation to even look at a screen

the dock was in the water, so would go out on the bay all day

this gave me a slim deadline to fix up bike and head west

then i got the rona which was no big deal whatsoever but put a damper in travel plans as I was planning on stopping at various friend's homes on my way out west

once rona cleared, got smacked by the flu which was 10x worse, just did nothing but sleep for a few days

finally getting over things now and clear headed enough to start interacting with the world again, have about 150 unread texts - rip

how is the thread? any interesting rashes or warts spring up in my absence?

Love that area of MT. Good poker action at Cat's Paw in Bozeman. Going be spending 3 nights in Virginia City two weeks before this event (sadly not on the route, but totally worth checking out if you are in the area) Not sure I'd want to bike it, though.

Highway 2 south of Butte is one of my favorite rides (m/c preferred).

Two young European guys sat down at our table at 2AM last night, right next to each other. One bought in for $100, the other $30. Dealer told the guy with $30 that the minimum buy-in was $20, so the guy with $100 just gave $20 in chips to his friend. They then proceeded to speak in non-English (Serbian maybe?) to each other the entire time they were at the table, even when they were both in the hand with other people.

The thing is, they weren’t “colluding” per se, they were both just completely clueless about poker. So none of us complained. And they rebought multiple times!

Ugh. Dealt a charity tournament this weekend. Had a couple who wanted to sit together, so they're in 2 and 3 at my table.

Of course, at these things, we get inexperienced people. The wife clearly didn't know what was going on, so each time I'd explain her options.

The husband seemed to have at least some experience, but wasn't a good player by any means.

She held her hands high (as inexperienced players do), despite multiple times me showing her how to cup the cards and bend the corners up to protect her hand. The problem was, the husband kept leaning over to see her cards, then giving her advice during the hands.

I try to be lenient in these kinds of events, so warned them "One player to a hand. You can't coach during the play of a hand." I'd guess I warned 3-4 times, then got the TD over, hoping his word would have more impact.

They kept on. After a bit, the one seat told them they had to stop doing that, and I backed him up, reminding them they'd been warned multiple times. A bit of commotion ensued, so TD came over and helped defuse.

They got all pissy and started bitching that, "I thought this was a fun event." Then, mucked their chips and quit. At that point, the husband threw out the claim that, "Last week, I won a quarter of a million dollars."

Bullshit. While he knew the mechanisms of poker, he was terrible.

Unfortunately, I wasn't clever enough to snap-offer to go 10-20 HU.

Lesson learned for me; while we want to help beginners out, if they repeatedly ignore instructions and warnings, I need to start handing out penalties/escalate earlier.
