Rake is a big thing, but I have no other choice but to grind 2/5.

1/2 is 100bb but the raise sizes makes it play like 50bbs.

So what's the best way to grind a live bankroll. Or get to the midlevel games where they actually play poker.

He said get a backer. We all know that does not work out in the end.

Win a donkament or bbj.

Limon advice is good but I wouldn't totally agree.

I will make it, I'm determined.

I don't know if that is much help but just my 2c
i could see that. thnx.

funny thing that happened while I was playing 1/2 at foxwoods Monday night.
sort of tight guy with a short stack opens for twelve bucks that guy next to him 3bets to thirty dollars. Everyone else folds and its up to the short stack who is thinking. The guy who 3bet shows him AA, and says you should fold and the shorty thinks for a min and does fold!

This is prob the funniest thing I have seen in a while, just goes to show you how weird live players can be guy would rather win what is out there than the other 80 bucks in the guys stack.
this was the worst 1/2 table I had been at in a long time I think there was two pots over twenty bucks in the hour I was there. Got a table change to the BEST game I have sat in in a while and won three buy ins. Table selection FTW!!

Your expectations are high my friend. I've been playing for I dont know how long now and I have never seen it. I've heard everyone and their momma talk about it and how they hit it or got table share... but never seen it. I figure it must be like those fish everyone catches, "It was thisssssssss bigggggggg (hands stretched out)."

Now he plays midlevel games. Seen him on saturday, I was like you a baller now. He said I can't play 2/5 no more. Not enough money for him$

Lucky dude that was his second bbj in 2 years. He got the losing hand so the bigger share twice.
03-23-2011 , 03:20 PM
i'v seen it get hit at lucky chances so many times, i can't even count.
(actually you hear it first).
they pay it out in the big octagon chips.
it's always a 3/6 ,6/12 game.
I hate the whole thing, and want to have nothing to do with it.
GL.

congrats, ILCD, you now have half as many posts as Limon, LOL.

You sound like me before I went on meltdown bro... Wondering when it was going to be my turn and why everyone else can hit bbj's for 100's of thousands, etc etc. If you are not careful your meltdown will hit also. I had the same if not more "passion" for this game then you did and it all came to a skreeching halt because I was always chasing that paper. I got caught up in the money so far that I became the degen chasing gutties and thinking to myself "this one I have to hit, I am due." I didn't go broke, but it sure felt like it.

You can take offense to this post, but I suggest you look deep and try to get what I am telling you here. Mike McD said your whole life can become an effin grind.... well let me rephrase it, "If you're not careful, your whole life can become a BBJ."

I was not serious APD, I see the jackpot get hit all the time. But its wed I usually hit and run short sessions during the week. Bbj is just a dream.

I'm just tired of low level cali cash games. Rake is too high buyin structure is plain terrible.

There is a actually a good time to do that, not that this was one of them.

When I was grinding the 3/5-150 CAZ game we had a guy that "we built games around". Nice guy, decent to good player, with what is likely the worst tilt problem I have ever seen, and it didn't take a lot to get him there.

The dynamic was soooooooo profitable. We would have a table change list for our table that would stretch upwards of 20+ people. They were all on that list to bum hunt our tilt master. You would get players that normally are relatively solid lowering their game to get a shot at him or infect themselves with the tilt virus when he would suck out on em or when someone (like me) pushed them out of a pot with a worse hand.

I remember 3 times I showed him AA HU when he had a big stack, and I could have busted him, as the last thing I wanted to do, was bust him, I wanted him on the table with a big stack, that was the true fish bait back in the day. My winrate was 5x higher in games I sat with him.

Everyone goes through this phase. Not everyone escapes out of it.

Knowing the odds of winning should get you out of this phase. That's why the fish limp every hand.

That phase has nothing to do with odds or knowing you are a better player, but rather you watching monkey after monkey crush the game while you haven't flopped a set in 60+ hours (true story btw). You get to a point where you just go, "When the eff is it my turn!!!!"

So let me get this clear before I make assumptions.

When limon talks about rake. Does he calculate how much rake you pay hour and minus that from how much you make an hour.

If that's the case I'm just a break even player. You will have to beat a given game for 10bbs/hour just to stay afloat of the rake. That's impossible to do,right?
