Hehe. Not any more. The fish can't use their credit cards any more and the effects of Darwinism have killed the game. Easy 2BB/100 playing ABC poker, try 0.25/.50 or lower.

They are quite beatable - but you have to feel teh aggro if you want to beat them. ABC playing correct odds etc will just get you ground out by the SN and SNE grinders.

I think the .25/.50 - 5.10 and .50/1 - 10/20 was a pretty good comparison - exactly what I found playing live around here in Sydney. At least post flop wise - pre-flop most live players (including the good ones) have no clue.

when i sit down at a limit game i try to buy in for 50 times the big blind. but i try to stick to a tight bankroll so to move up, i need a lot of money.

what are your reccomendations for buying in at a limit table... 30 times the big blind? 40?

Most calculations in limit are done in big bets (BB) not big blinds - a big bet is the size of the bets on the turn and river. Having said that, in a live game I generally try to buy in for at least 25 big bets (50 big blinds), anything less and I feel uncomfortable, which leads to bad play.

I personally do not play much limit but when I do only buy in for about 25 big bets. Even if you cap every street you are only looking at 12 big bets for a single hand. Just top up if you lose.

I am not sure what moving up in limits has to do with individual session buy-ins. The only strategic concern when choosing a buy-in amount is that you have enough chips so that you are never forced all in. If there is no cap heads up then I would think 20 big bets would be enough even against a maniac.

Psdychologically I enjoy having at least 50 big bets in front of me when i sit down but that is a personal preference.

I buy in for 20 big bets and rebuy when I get below 10. I take 50 big bets to the casino when I play. I feel comfortable if I have 200 big bets in my bankroll.

When I'm 6-tabling, I usually take 50 big bets.

Live I buy in for 20-25 big bets (40-50 big blinds). Online 6-handed I buy in for about 40-50 big bets.

i do live 25 bigbets

and 50 bigbets on line

bc one time i lost a bunch of money not having enough bets and i learned quick from that

When playing live i always buy 2 racks. Online I personally like to buy in for 30 big bets on all of my limit tables.

Ever had a guy go 25 bets with you with the 2nd nut flush? I have. Game selection and a deep stack, FTW.

Live 25-30 big bets, and usually have some big bills behind (check if the casino allows money to play, or just chips - rules vary).

Online 35-50 big bets (with a different amount for each table, so I don't focus on "getting even" if I run badly on one of the tables).

The trouble with HUDs is they tell you if youre up or down on the table and in the session no matter what you buy in for Really like the idea though! I take a session rather than table oriented approach, as long as my session is up I go to sleep happy. If my session is down I know I will be miserable for the next 24 hours - I guess I just hate losing!

ok guys, i want to build up so i can play $10/$20 limit poker at the casino, with blinds of $5 and $10... how much do you usually buy in for? $300, $400, or is $500 the right amount?

any ideas?

"I need a rack of reds, mam." I also keep another five fun tickets in my pocket.

We don't have 'racks' here in Europe. How many chips are in there and what value?

By the way, I normally buy in for 25 big bets in live games. So for 10/20 I'd need 500.

And you'd have exactly one rack of reds, too. Racks have five stacks of 20 chips in each stack.

There is a cardroom not far from my house in New Hampshire, that offers NL tournaments but due to NH laws the maximum bet for cash games is $4 so they have 2/4 Limit games everyday. My question is do people on 2+2 believe that these stakes would be more than 90% luck, or would someone who is skilled enough be able to beat these games?

What's the rake? Assuming $3 or $4 rake (plus $1 tip plus $1 jackpot drop if there is one) my guess is the general consensus here would be from anywhere from barely beatable (which is my opinion, say upwards of 0.5 BB/hr = a cool $2/hr) to crushing the game to the tune of 1.5+ BB/hr (which is a sweet sweet sweet $6/hr, not sustainable in my opinion but I'm being very results oriented and I'm not very good).

Too bad it sounds like you don't have a higher limit game where the rake won't have as bad an effect on the game.

you want to be playing against poor players. that's how you have a bigger edge.

however, in most live 2/4 games the effect of the rake is probably too big to overcome.

you're probably better off saving up a bit more cash and going to play 4/8 at foxwoods.

good luck and welcome to the forums.

I just recently turned 21 and i've played plenty of home games so i'm not completely dumb about it but i was wondering what limits to start at? the local casino has 2/4 and 3/6 tables which is about approiate for my bankroll. also how much should i put on the table for these? any other help would be great thanks

What is your bankroll, exactly? I'd play as high as it allowed due to rake considerations, but I would be sure I'm a winner first.

I buy in for 40 BB. You need enough money to cap every street in front of you always (12BB) but I always have ****tons more.
