I don't believe I implied that it was just some power-trip whim but rather that it was possibly unfounded or at the very least misdirected based on customary and reasonable privacy policies and related procedures.

It was a decision made by the admins on the advice of 2+2's lawyers.
Leave it to the lawyers to advise that public information should be treated as private. I can hear them now, "But what if one of these Yahoo! Personals sluts sees that a 2+2 forum is linking to their public profile and that members of the 2+2 community are making fun? 2+2 might get sued! zOMFG!!!"
Anything that can be seen/heard or otherwise accessed reasonably easily by the general public clearly isn't private. Any information that was knowingly and willingly provided to a forum or other medium that does not afford any protection of privacy was provided without expectation of same. Therefore, while treating such information as private is certainly within the discretion of management, it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense and is therefore a huge turn-off to the more intelligent or otherwise sensible members of the community. It is also probably very inconsistent which is in itself a much larger liability. No, I'm not a lawyer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night...
I understand and respect the need for moderators in any public forum, topic-sensitive or not. I've both hosted and moderated a lot of forums over the years. But WTF do I know.
Back to poker... Anyone have any new/updated information about the AP+UB=CEREUS time line? Anyone ever figure out what happened to Anechka? Anyone slow-play monsters pre-flop when 3-bet by an OOP TAG? Anyone ever cold-cap 78s or 89s OTB in a 5-6h game?
