Won't be in L.A. until 10/8. You sure you don't have the missus birthday wrong by a couple of weeks?

You can tell Jesse I'm in.

The first year we were married, I got it wrong by one day. That's a mistake I'll never, ever make again.

If you don't mind, I'll just let him read about it.

Will you be bringing your lovely wife? I was thinking of having a blinded wine tasting right before the cheeseburger contest.

One year, I took my girlfriend (now wife) to KFC on Valentine's Day. Her comment -- "you want to go WHERE to eat tonight?". I don't think I figured it out for a couple of days.

Back in Florida, KFC is considered fine dining, amirite bravos1? It's basically a four-course meal in a bucket.

(I'm from Florida too)

You're playing ol and have three limpers to you when it's your action. As a rule, I think it's pretty safe to assume that none of them have a better hand than your wired eights.

Get your money in when you likely have the best of it.

Especially given what they were limping with. Hope you took a couple good notes.

Also, Cap'n R: your mistake was not living in China. KFC in China is a huge date destination. After currency conversion, it actually costs more to get a meal at a Chinese KFC than it does at a US KFC. When compared to how much food costs in China for the average Chinese citizen, I would guess a meal at KFC would be equivalent to a meal at Ruth's Chris.

Another weight loss bet is starting up in micros. Could be a chance to get involved for those of you who missed the Small stakes one.

I thought that was Applebees (ala Taladanga Nights)!

Regarding my 88.....yes it is likely to be the best hand.....but being oop this hand will suffer from playability issues and not realize its full share of it's equity all that often. I don't mind passing on my preflop edge in this spot.

Cool. Better go get a couple pizzas so my starting weight is a few pounds higher.

hot streak continuing. Up 29 racks in less than 100hrs of live play.

Heart-breaker hand last night.

4 limps, I raise 55 from sb, BB 3bets, azn-lady caps from BTN, 6ish to the flop.

Flop: Ax9x5c (rainbow)

Capped on the flop 4 ways.

Turn: 8c

I c/raise an MP's lead, MP is allin, 3 of us to the river.

River: 7c

I bet/call against azn-lady. Azn-lady flips over 6h3h and starts doing a victory dance.

Still up 5 racks from last night though.

if you die of a heart attack, i assume you'll be weighed asap so the prize pool isn't shorted...

With all due respect, my friend, that's both a leak and an error in the game in which you are playing.

If it is, it's a small one. Hot and cold equity is not absolute. We need to take into consideration our position and the playability of our pocket pair along with our equity before deciding wether to check or raise. if this was 22 I don't think you would argue with my check. If it was 99 or 10-10 we wouldn't be having this discussion because I would have raised. I guess the Q is where does the line blur and our equity become offset by postflop playability.

I'm not arguing that 88 is the mason-dixon line......I'm simply saying it's close enough not to make a big difference.

But now we are getting into content where I intended none. Should I post the hand for content and stop the decision point at my preflop decision?
