Yes. He let me stay in his room I play with him on the regular and I tried to steal his best girl. He's a great dude personally only problem is he thinks money grows on trees which if you back to back ME final tables in fairness it does.

I read that whole thing, but why be swayed by logic/reason when Germans are involved? I'm not saying a smart man loved their chances, I'm just saying I called it before we started. You're hard pressed to find someone who is less of a soccer betting genius than me, I read Nate and willfully went another way based on general perception of country. It is like your GF winning the college basketball pool picking by how much she likes the mascots.

So what's this about vegas?
07-15-2014 , 04:26 PM
Is it typical/standard for IWTSTH to apply to anyone at the table, not just the players involved in a showdown?

Apparently someone has invited you to a couple of wine tastings and dinner. Lodging is rumored to have been arranged. If I was you, I'd go.

Be prepared, however, to add a few pounds. (Rumor has it that those Bellagio chips are heavy.)

Yes, but typically it kills the hand for someone else to ask to see it while having the opponent ask makes it live. So you're trying to muck and random bozo in seat 4 asks to see, the dealer taps the muck and shows. Your opponent asks, the dealer protects the muck, turns the hand up, and the hand is live and can still win at SD. Rules vary, so some places this could be different. Also, some places demand a suspicion of cheating/irregular play before allowing IWTSTH.

Unfortunately, yes. The caveat being that if the guy involved in the hand invokes it and the the guy that folded/mucked has a winner, his hand becomes live.

Eta: what Doug said.

Seeing a player trying to muck and then win the pot after IWTSTH is probably the funniest thing I've ever seen at the table.

Funny. There's a grumpy reg in one of the games I play in that does it specifically to tilt people. Seen it work on more than on occasion, too.

I think that poker is just one of many places where grump self-proclaimed experts invent etiquette so that they can dominate the less knowing. You get all these tilty reg games with angles and overblown offense. I think this stuff also blew up with internet kids thinking it was online and asking to see hands was normal. I'd stay out of IWTSTH and if someone invoked it on me, I'd make the dealer explain if I didn't know the exact rules. Honestly, messing with all of it wastes energy and takes up time the people could be losing to you.
