Are you using beta 42 to import the hands? Were some of your original hands from Microgaming or Ongame?

Ok so uninstall both uninstall comodo and import the HH's to 8.4 yes?
If 8.4 is working, I wouldnt necessarily try to reinstall that. Try doing a restore with the 8.3 .backup file and see if it works. If it doesnt, just create a new DB import the archived and exported hands you do have.

here is the problem. I use HEM 1.09 beta 21 and i like to mark my hands and review them later. I can mark the hands in the HUD and they do get the * just like they should and everything is allright.

but as soon as i like to review my hands and hit the "show marked hands only" checkbox in HEM the folder is empty. Does anybody have the same problem what can be the reason?

thanks in advance
Please update to the latest beta - http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 or holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe, and dbcontrolpanel.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe, and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

If you still have problems try a new DB:

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=146
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=173
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm....aspx?faqid=21

If that doesnt work make a new thread on our forums so we can help directly.

If it got shut down suddenly while importing it may have corrupted your DB. Those connection errors are typical of a firewall issue, or a corrupt DB.

First try to delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it, and reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm....aspx?faqid=34
2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=177
3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=8261

If you do get connected I suggest you try a new DB:

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands.

I would try and not do too much multi-tasking til after the import.

After importing like that I also recommend you vacuum your DB at the very least, and if you have time, I suggest you stop postgresql from the start menu and defrag your entire PC.

I should have mentioned this too: you may want to turn off logging and delete the log files. It would have been best if I told u this before importing. It is an annoying feature of the current sql installer.

Logging:

I would suggest you turn off logging on your new SQL installation as well as these other performance improvements - Top 10: HEM performance increase tips

To turn off logging, follow these instructions. This is the first thing I do anytime I install SQL for someone.

- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > UnCheck 'Hide Extensions for known file types' > OK

- C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\data\postgresql.conf > Right-Click > Open With.. > NotePad > Check 'Always use this program'

- Scroll about half way down to ~Lines 245 - 260:

- The last line of this block of code, for the 'logging_collector', must be changed from On to Off.

HTML Code:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# ERROR REPORTING AND LOGGING
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------

# - Where to Log -

log_destination = 'stderr' # Valid values are combinations of
                    # stderr, csvlog, syslog and eventlog,
                    # depending on platform. csvlog
                    # requires logging_collector to be on.

# This is used when logging to stderr:
logging_collector = off # Enable capturing of stderr and csvlog

File > Save; File > Close

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8.3 > Reload Configuration.

- Start > My Computer > C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\data\pg_log, or C:\Program Files (x86)\PostgreSQL\data\pg_log, if you have 64 bit Vista. Delete all files in that folder. And it might be a good idea to empty your recycle bin at that point, or use a 3rd party utility like CCleaner to clean up all your junk/temporary files. You want to do this before you get to the vacuum and defrag process.

After installing postgres 8.4 and HM on my new windows 7 system, I now get postgres as a user-account on my computer. Is this normal? Can I remove/hide the accont somehow or will this screw up postgres?

Everything else went well with installation and import of old db, so not a huge problem, but if I can get rid of it, I'd prefer that as it costs me a full extra click when starting up my machine

I just setup hem on a new computer and I am having two minor issues...the one hand is not showing at the poker stars tables. I have the auto import folder configured as C:\program files (x86)\RVG software\Hodem manager\Importing\HEM Data + subfolders. The table manager starts ok, but it says that autoupdate did not find any files and shows 0/6. Once I sit at the table and I am in the game, it works fine.

The second issue is that with Beta 42, under cash games reports menu, the only choices I have in the drop down menu is hand groupings, leak buster and plugging leaks.

Thank you

I'm having a little trouble with the hud working on AP. I have to use table finder to recognize each table every time, taking up to 2 or 3 attempts at times. I've played around with some hud settings but still no luck. Any ideas?

This is an annoying habit of the enterprise db postgresql installers. Soon this wont be an issue for new 8.4 installs, but for now you can hide it with a very simple registry hack. This was my first time editing the registry surprisingly, and it was much simpler than I had anticipated.

First time setting up new auto import folders, and turning on the pre-fetch, it can require a restart of HEM.

Double check your auto import and prefetch configurations.

1) Please update to the latest beta - http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/HmBetaUpdate.exe

There is a slim chance (judging by the rest of your post I am about to answer) that your .config file may be corrupt and causing this. You may want to try this before making a new thread on our forums.

0. Make sure you have installed the latest Beta version.
1. Note your database connection settings from the database management
2. Close holdemmanager
3. Go to the folder config in the holdemmanager installation path
4. Rename the file holdemmanager.config to holdemmanager.config.corrupt or sth. like that.
5. Under Vista make sure that UAC is switched off or check the administrator settings for holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe and dbcontrolpanel.exe under properties->compatibility
6. Restart Holdemmanager
7. Holdemmanager reinstalls and displays some messages and warnings
7a. A new holdemmanager.config file is generated
8. Reconfigure your database connection
9. After successful start reconfigure your Auto-import settings

Close HEM and the Table Manager.

Unzip to new folder and then Paste the files into \Holdem Manager\Reports

Beta 42 of HEM? if not, please update and try to reimport copies of the hands from a new folder. If you were already on beta 42 please send us hands asap, as beta 43 is due out very soon (and we are trying to finalize 1.09).

Please zip and email the problem hand histories, with a link to this thread, and your forum name, with subject line 'cake update - hands wont import', to support@holdemmanager.net

Is it possible for me to get player stats to appear on a table if I'm just watching it and not yet playing it? Or even if I'm sat at the table but not yet played a hand and am sitting out?

Thanks

I live in UK and my cashier is in £, is it therefore a lot more beneficial to play these tables than the $ I imagine? since eveytime you play $ tables you have to convert at th currecnt exchange rate..

Depends what site you play at - some will allow you to get observed hands, some will only let you get hands that you are dealt into.

Full tilt and pokerstars do not let you get observed hands. You can prefetch some hands to get your existing stats to appear though:

thanks. I play on ipoker do they allow it, and if so how do you set HEM up to track hands while not playing?

Just been reading a long post about table selection and the guy had screenshots of tables he was considering sitting at, and the stats were already showing despite him being sat at the table, so assume this is how he did it (the link you gave me)?

I'm not familiar with ipoker, but I believe you have to get an additional program to datamine (get observed hands) from them (not sure if they allow it, but it should be possible). Try googling (or searching on this site) for 'datamine ipoker' and you'll probably get some more information.

As for the second part, if he was playing FT or stars, then that's proably how it happened, yes. If he was on other sites that allow datamining and write observed hands to the hand history files, then stats will show up as soon as the first full hand has been observed, wether you sit at the table or not.
