Why not have him do it Denmark? Who says it has to be shot in America? Each season can be a different country.

I would be surprised to see the second season set anywhere but the American gulf coast if Nic P writes it. This is based on nothing more than the possibly inconsequential facts that he grew up there and both his book Galveston and now True Detective were based there. A lot of writers tend to only write about a very specific area that they have great knowledge of.

I doubt that's gonna happen. At most English-speaking countries imo.

Nic Pizzolatto is "the maker". He will continue to be showrunner and EP of any future True Detective seasons.

was rewatching the episode with my brother and completely forgot my initial thoughts during the scene of lost innocence for the daughters when audrey throws the headress into the trees. The way it was done I was scared the baby girl would climb up the tree and fall and it was filmed perfectly pulling away from the tree in an upward motion as to show more and more brances slowly each frame bringing a fear that the younger sister was on a branch but luckily we saw them going inside

So anyone still want to argue that this wasn't really, really important?

I'll also bet the burn out schtick is mostly an act (to the extent MM wasn't always a little out there) so the two detectives underestimate him.

Glad someone else thinks that the beer can men was a call back to that doll scene. It makes the body/cross imagery of the beer can men construction even more interesting, as well.

I'm starting to think that The Yellow King isn't a person, but is more like the "Jesus" or Messiah/Ruler of whatever cult is responsible for these murders. I think the cult worships The Yellow King and Carcosa is the home of The Yellow King like Heaven is the home of God/Jesus.

Too bad his novel (Galveston) is out of print except in digital. Scribner must hate money...

Wow, I dunno how I missed this. Interesting.

A few people earlier mentioned the father in law has nothing to do with yellow king, I still think he's going to be involved in it somehow.

So does everyone agree that it's probably these guys

they also look like they're wearing masks that could be similar to the spaghetti head guy the girl described to the sherriff
