didn't watch The Wire live the first time through, but i assume it was mostly just jarring how the cast/setting all changed for S2. had a show really done that before? maybe, but it was uncommon. obv people were fully braced for that with TD, and it probably wouldn't be such a big thing for any show to do that now anyway. i don't think S2 of The Wire was much different otherwise.

72, I think people who like the genres you mentioned would like TD season 2 less than those who aren't fans of that genre or don't care about it.

I thought torture cabin was in Northern California somewhere, but the geography of this show is as challenging as remembering who all these ****ing names are.

I wonder if HBO thought they were getting a dad-in-Malcolm-in-the-Middle-to-GOAT-dramatic-actor story when they cast VV. That must have been disappointing for them.

Regarding storylines that follow multiple people, I just started watching The Shield again from the start and I'm finding season 1 to be really, really good, even though it's an ensemble show and you're following around the strike team, Danny/Julien, and Dutch/Claudette. I'll admit there's probably some hindsight bias involved though.

8.5 isn't a lot of time; but a lot of that time sure was wasted.

I think it was, and I'm fairly sure that's the same place (main compound) that VV and CF shot up. I'm not sure how they got up there and back, but I think that's what happened. But then again...

It would be great if it took place in South Dakota and is titled "Deadwood: Season 4" instead.

The torture cabin was, I thought, specifically named as being in Sonoma county(!!!! what a ****ing commute).

VV was looking at some maps for the money train cabin and it seemed to be more inland, like north of Bakersfield.

As goofy said, though, the geography is all ****ed. This entire show seems to take place in a fever dream version of California that's the size of Vermont. Like GTAV.

Maybe they were using maps from Grand Theft San Andreas.

Was the torture cabin on the same property as the sex party?

This was amazing. I hope they follow up with episode 8 details, such as:
- where is this empty desert they took VV to from the middle of Los Angeles
- where is this forest that CF drove out to from the middle of Los Angeles

I guess that's possible, but that would be the sex party is also in Sonoma county. Since the girls didn't get on the bus until it was already dark, I guess all the rich dudes just chilled until 4 am before starting to party?

But if the sex party mansion was all the way up north, why the **** did it involve so many SoCal people?

This is like if episodes of Law and Order regularly involved trips to Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Close enough to LA that not only did Farrell not need to stop for gas in a Charger(who, even with the V6, gets ****ty mileage), he was still ****ing around trying to upload a voicemessage to his email(??? man use voicemail you ****ing weirdo) the entire drive from his kid's school.

Hell, though, it never was explained where his kid lived. That **** could've been in Sacramento.

travel discussion feels a little nitty

i mean they even used fake names for some places, i don't think they're trying to depict reality or anything

allowable creative liberties i'd say
would guess that most people not from California don't really care

yeah in the beginning he looks to be leaving Casper's secret sex apartment, with Casper dead in the back obv. but he didn't take the hard drive? (really!?)

then later when Ray & Dixon search Casper's primary residence they note that the computer is gone. so BirdOrphan took that, or ... ? seems like everyone else on the show is just realizing that Casper is MIA at that point, but not impossible that someone else searched his place.

then BirdOrphan finally goes back to sex apartment to ambush Ray and get the hard drive? i

pretty weird
