But in the end, nothing of any consequence happened that was surprising, and the plot continues on the exact arc that was so obviously mapped out by episode 2.
Ok.

So, you knew it all from the start but had to put everything together with hindsight.

nice how for some reason guns always go clackety click whenever a character touches them. gives cohle a chance to spout some good dialogue when he hears marty is suspicious.

Great episode as always. So sad we only have an hour left.
Let me put it this way. If you were drowning, I'd throw you a barbell.

this may be too specific to New York, but it is priceless for anyone who listens to Francesa (these guys have done a ton of imitation videos and this is the best one)

Audrey being molested in itself doesn't tie her behavior to the cult, which the show has obviously been hinting at.

On the other hand her somehow having seen the same (or similar) video as is now in Cohle's possession as a child makes a ton more sense to me. It would explain not only her behavior in general - without the more noticeable-by-parents trauma actual molestation might entail, but as previously mentioned also perfectly tie in the 5 male dolls to the 5 beer can men AND explain why penis 2nd-base guy in her drawing seems to be wearing a mask.

Did the cemetery seem out of place for anyone? In the middle of nowhere, all very similair looking graves etc. I think it's where they burried their victims? Or was that so ridiculously obvious that no one has bothered to mentioned it?

Also, did that final scene confuse anyone? I was expecting to see the camera pan out and show the old church, instead we get a river and a boat passing by? Why?

I don't even care what happens in S2, this will have it's place in the GOAT-tire seasons along with S3 & S4 of The Wire & Breaking Bad.

steve the drunk sheriff is innocent, he told marty what he needed to know but WH didn't make the connection between Sheriff Ted Childress who talked to the fontenot family and the old black lady saying that she thought the kid with scars might have been a childress.

I keep wanting to re-read the Dark Tower every time I watch this show. Many parallels. Time as a circle. Yellow King/Crimson King. Both having roots to something published in the late 1800's. Probably more that I'm too lazy to think of now.

Though I know they're not going all supernatural and ending it the same way, I was one of the few who liked the DT ending.

Audrey may have known a little girl that had been in the circle (Lange seems to have been part of the ritual from a young age, so there are probably other). She was haunted by the tale and her actions are a manifestation of that.

That would at least stay true to the "King in Yellow" as those seeing the 2nd act are driven insane.

Indeed, its not like the legend is totally secret as witnessed by the prisoner speaking of it.

I also think the Audrey stuff will go somewhere. Did you notice what she has put on her painting?

Meh, they used Lester and Eli (to a lesser extent) in similar throwaway type rolls. I mean, Lester's casting may very well have been for the very purpose of concealing the importance and likelihood of reappearance of other characters.

Pacino in Insomnia was pretty elite as well.
