Doesn't it seem to anyone else that Ozzy is likely to be in the final 3? When they went back to Redemption Island for some more Ozzy screen time the other night after the duel was over, this just sort of popped into my mind. Why would would they be giving him more screen time if he wasn't going to be making it very deep in the game?

Either they're trying to embarrass him by airing a ton of overconfident quotes and then he gets beat by like Whitney or Edna OR they're setting up an epic RI/immunity run and he makes it to the final 3, which I would love.

OR Ozzy was popular enough to get the 3rd invite and they're giving the common fans as much of him as they can because that's what they want.

Not saying that's the reason, just that it's a possibility.

They showed a fair amount (read: too much) Elrod last season on RI, so it's possible that the producers just really want us to care about redemption island and take it seriously as a means by which to win the game, which we don't, because it's not.

But they never came back to Redemption Island later in the show after the duel was over. I just didn't understand the purpose of that the other night. It just didn't make any sense, unless he makes the final 3. More screen time for Ozzy would then make more sense.

two of the worst episodes followed by an upcoming recap week. They really need to shake up the game so the predictable "pick off the other team til they are gone," stuff isn't the autoplay.

I'd love to see 21 people start with three 7 person teams (USA, Canada, Britain) and have three teams of 4 go to the merge. That would be neat.

tribal swaps help with this. my problem with swaps though is it can take people who have set up a good position in their tribe, only to have them swap over to the other tribe and be booted out that day.

i think a voluntary swap feature would be good. basically at a pre-designated time, if anyone wants to swap they can. if you know you're at the bottom of the your tribes total pole and next to go, you would probably swap.

they would obviously have to limit the number of swappable players because otherwise if your team has the numbers advantage everyone would just choose to swap, and then pagong.

Ozzy is a returning player. I don't think it's particularly surprising that he's getting a lot of airtime.

I still say the best scenario they've yet to try is Survivor: One Tribe. Start with 16 people as if it's a post-merge, individual game.

I think it's funny that Edna works with Mick Trimming in real life, and is just as feckless in Survivor as he was!

I think there are numerous factors at play that has caused this the last two seasons, namely the RI factor (solidifying the tribes against the returnee and a we're sending you to RI for tribe EV mentality) and more importantly no reward challenges that highlight to everybody where they stand on the totem pole. Right now, each Upolo member feels safe, they wouldn't if Coach won a reward challenge and had to pick 2...

If I was a producer and wanted to stop the pagong'ing, I would:
  • kill RI
  • have plenty of reward challenges where the winner picks 2 to accompany, ensuring the "who is the most annoying Survivor"-style quiz as a reward challenge
  • have a pre-merge swap. If details of the swap were communicated on day 1, I think this removes the unfair/unlucky factor and realistically, there shouldn't be anything detracting them from communicating the swap before it happens. I know the producers like to drop bombshells but meh, they'd be able to build up to it and be a discussion point etcetc. (Perhaps a challenge whereby the winner, who is restricted from being swapped, can restrict x number of tribe mates as well, and then they then must pick y number of people from the opposing tribe's non-restricted list. Therefore, you should have tried to buddy up with the challenge beats to avoid being swapped etc)
  • what they're rumored to be doing next season

It just seemed like they weren't prepared to vote someone else if whitney won immunity there.

Ozzy grew on Dawn some when she got to play with him in the waterfall reward, and I think she respected his willingness to take a risk for the team and go to RI. People are often very blinded by whether a player tried to play with them or not. You played with me = good player. You played against me = bad player. You played with me, but then unexpectedly played against me = really awful player. Jim was rooting hard for Dawn and Whitney to be used in some sort of move by Upolu...because it would give Dawn and Whitney a shot at winning...which he seemed in favor of. Presumably because those two have been tearing the game up, you say?

Yeah, I thought 'island hot' would be more popular. Can't believe I went from 1 point off the lead to last by a lot so quickly.

From Soncy's secret scenes: "The twist: Edna is on to the double elimination and quiz. Dawn, Whitney, and Cochran are on the block."

If Edna knows to vote Cochran if Whitney wins immunity, i think the rest of the alliance is happily on board.
