Jesse was terrible at any type of challenge, never even came close to winning anything.

Wow they really gave Gabler the stealth edit. Didn't see that coming. Guess Owen's "I played pretty bad but hung in there" argument didn't sway the jury.

Maybe that will help him on his return to action.

Aligabler ftw.

I can't help but be a little annoyed with Karla for refusing to give her vote to someone who played a very similar game to herself. Seems weird.

So, my plan to use Cody's idol and vote out Gabler instead of Cody is looking a lot better in hindsight.

Gabler was terrible to start off but he really started hitting his stride there for a while and thought he was good down the stretch. Kept wondering why he was getting so much hate.

I liked how he acknowledged his near mishap with the shot in the dark early on as his biggest mistake. Made him seem unreliable and nearly got himself voted out. BUT, it also probably contributed to people not taking him super seriously later on. Which he used to his advantage.

Clearly Gabler got to know people and made connections that weren't highly publicized in the edit. There was that bit on the after show where he rattled information about half a dozen family members of his castmates. Those kinds of personal connections can go a long way if you can also credibly sell the game that you played.

I thought Owen made a decent argument for himself. And I thought Cassidy played a good game, would have been a deserving winner as well, but she had a bit of attitude that I think hurt her a few times. Difficult to put my finger on what exactly it was. Her stubborn, petulant arguing with Karla. And a hint of self righteous entitlement.

The show keeps changing and I don't always like all the changes, but the game is still quite fascinating. This thread is not nearly as enjoyable as it used to be, but I still love the show and the game. When they played the promo for season 44, I got that, oooo, I can't wait to meet the new players and watch it unfold again.

As someone who has hated on this season since the merge, I’m soooo glad none of the alliance bots won. I will give some credit to Jesse who finally started making actual moves at the end to separate his self from the other bots

Noelle said it best right before final tribal: ‘I’d rather root for the underdog than the person that was sitting pretty on the majority’

Going into the FTC, I would've been willing to bet that Gabler wouldn't receive a single vote. I thought he was delusional to think that he even had a shot (let alone a good shot) at winning. I honestly have no idea why the jury decided to vote for a goat as the winner of their season, although it does seem to fall in line with the trend from the past two seasons of goats winning, in Maryanne and Erika.

I have to say I've watched every season of US and Aus Survivor and this is the most surprised I've been at a winner. But hey, Gabler in a weird way was another Fabio whereby his relationship building and his ability to make people like him, underestimate him and really want to vote for him at the end makes him a worthy winner, even if like Fabio his strategic game wasn't particularly great.

Feel bad for Jesse though. Hell of a game.

Yeah that was shocking. I didn’t think Gabler would get a vote. I actually thought it might be a shutout for Cassidy or maybe one vote goes to Owen.

And a huge lol to all the people online saying Gabler is full of it and will keep all the money. They seriously believe that.

Unpopular opinion but I think Jesse was overrated. Would he have definitely beaten Gabler had he got to the F3? People act as if the million was Jesse's if he beats him at fire making.

Speaking of which, he had a HII at F5 and still couldn't make it to F3. Had 2 chances to make F3 and laid an egg in both. In fact he laid an egg in basically every challenge.

He did have one big move which he deserves big credit for. But even there, Cody was an ally and not a big threat to win the entire game imo. Hindsight is 20/20 but getting out Gabler would have been the better move.

He played a good game yes but I don't see why he is considered an all-time Survivor mastermind. Cassidy played just as good a game, in some ways better... and gets almost zero credit.
