I'm confused about what Mattson's buying, if Logan is keeping ATN....

I don't think Kendall thought Mattsson's call was a sign of weakness, it's just that he has a huge ego and probably thought "who the **** does this Mattsson guy thinks he is, I'll show him who's boss".

I thought Mattson had said that as part of the deal Logan could keep ATN, since the news division is the part he loves best. Not sure if that division is being spun off into a separate company, or if it just means that Mattson will own it but Logan will still run it.

8.

It’s not a show where the actual plot / what happens is surprising or super engaging, but the performances, dialogue, and production value are top notch. Also pretty rewatchable, imo, because everything moves very fast and they throw in a lot of subtle stuff.

I'm honestly more tired of Kendall and Shiv at this point, they risk becoming one-note. Like we get it, they hate Logan and will sabotage their own deal for Pierce to screw over their father. I like Roman and Connor better because at least they seem conflicted. And Roman actually seems like a potentially good businessman, unlike his siblings.
Agree that Kendall and Shiv are getting repetitive. Lot of season to go, but it seems like they kinda ran out of ideas for them so far. Kendall in particular has been the center of the show up til now and hasn’t done jack so far this season. All Shiv does is get pwned and then get aggro and stubborn to try and prove she’s not “hurt”.

Evil Greg is meh so far, but has potential if they can pull it off where it’s not just him doing bad things but still acting exactly the same.

Early season interest rankings:
Logan
Roman
Connor
Tom
Shiv
Greg
Kendall

the waystar parent company? think it's a giant amazon/disney type corp, they've mentioned theme parks, cruise lines, etc so i guess mattson is getting all that stuff but logan is keeping atn?

do the kids need the money from this sale to do the pierce deal or nah?

She has like five lines the entire previous three seasons and now we’re supposed to be into her throwing down the one-liners on Greg? And why the **** does Logan, the most ruthless unfeeling dude, want her input on stuff? Like she bones Logan and now she’s a business genius? Just very internally inconsistent.

I didn’t really understand why the Matsson call made Kendall want to tank the deal? He just got pissed off?

I actually like Roman as the guy who deep down just wants his family to actually be a family and think there’s a lot of depth to the performance there.

Connor is a doof, but they’ve also shown him as being somewhat perceptive about everyone’s motivations and moves overall.
yeah i don't like how they are suddenly turning her from the butt of jokes and ridicule into an important character that greg and tom are afraid of despite that they were enacting what logan gave the wink and nod to do

i also don't get why they didn't just give some genuine feedback about what she needs to work upon going forward

agreed that roman seems to be the only one who's actually doing anything - he was the only one meeting with the 100 team whereas kendall just pops in and shiv isn't even there and is also the only one who can separate his feelings from his thoughts

Yes, which is why I have a hard time believing they would risk blowing it up to squeeze a little more money.

I guess Shiv and Kendall just see a chance to twist the knife in Logan by putting his deal in jeopardy, but they are trying to convince themselves that it's just smart business.

they'll blow it up bc they're not serious people. they've never run anything in their life. certainly nothing consequential. they're stunted children acting out for daddy's love and attention. Connor had it right

Also not thrilled about how Shiv looks this season - feel like she has put on probably 10 pounds and her hair is shorter? And does Kendall usually wear a hat this much?

This. Kendall just spouts random biztech-speak phrases that are meaningless w/o context, and he can't put them in context because he has no clue what he's saying. Shiv tries to sound smart and reasoned but is just trying to be everything to everybody and Connor is just a space shot.

Roman might be the only one with a shred of business acumen, but he's so personally/sexually conflicted that nobody really takes him seriously.

i think it's more than 10

i know she was a thread favorite but i never got that and even being indifferent about her to begin with, I've noticed a big change for the worse

pretty shocking to be honest, usually you see actors work out like crazy and only get in better shape and get work done to look even better with each new season

1997 everybody love ray wife

2004 version with new tiddies and all

no, just no, you do not naturally get hotter between the ages of 39 and 46 she and her docs worked super hard to make it happen

I kind of feel like I was supposed to think that was an all-timer, but honestly I found it less engaging than many Succession eps. Felt like the dialogue all fell into a loop at some point…which is true to life, but not necessarily great TV.

I salute the bold choice though.

I see what you mean. As a whole, perhaps not all-timer but for certain aspects, pretty damn close. But maybe not…. It’s not like we don’t already know these thing about them, but to see it in relation to basically a cataclysmic event is interesting and revealing. I do think what it does for the rest of the season could end up being the best of the series. I was pretty sure Logan would die by the end of the show and it would be in the penultimate or even series finale. Putting it this early changes everything I thought that might happen. I love when that happens.

To be clear: it was an absolute acting clinic on all parts. And I think the episode was beautifully done. But unlike other epic episodes of TV, I'm not sure how much I'm going to care about rewatching it? I don't know why I'm having this reaction. I'm guessing it's in the minority, and on some level I was frustrated that I wasn't feeling more.

All of that said, I am now even more excited for the remainder of the season as a result of this episode, so from that standpoint it was a great success.

That had to happen. Dramatically.

I disagree, I think that was an all-time master clinic of writing, directing, and acting. One of the very best episodes of TV ever.

That’s how it really happens. And it’s amazing that I didn’t realize how few TV and movies actually portray death realistically.

Damn. I don’t even like these people and I was tearing up for them.

Jinxed em.

Probably the best way to end Logan’s character though, never really understand him or see him lose, just a mythic figure to the end.

Agree this has to happen, and has me super pumped for the rest of the season.

Hopefully that’s the last we see of Kerry Chuckles.

Death scene hit hard. I’ve gotten one of those calls and that really captured how that feels to a tee. Just it coming out of nowhere and feeling totally helpless, focusing on WHAT HAPPENED because you’re in denial of the ultimate fact, not wanting to say the word dead. Ugh. Just painful to watch and one of the most realistic death scenes ever. Totally apart from the show as a whole, by itself as a set piece it’s just some amazing writing and acting.

Predictions on who “wins”?
