Because it was the only one from 2010s? Vice Principals was great and should probably be added to the list even though it was only 2 seasons.

Yeah of course. 3 great shows just none of which aired a single season in the last 10 years

Does Eastbound and Down qualify?

Yes. Party Down does too, because they did S1 in 09 and S2 in 10.

I'm going to screw the curve by picking some terrible shows.

I've added:

New Girl
Lucifer
Santa Clarita Diet

to the list.

santa clarita diet is awesome.

I had to use the 2010+ criteria and ended up narrowing it down to a top 40.

Breaking Bad and Mad Men would indeed be top 5.

I have not watched a whole lot of the most recommended animated shows. Maybe one day! Not Chernobyl yet either, which I suspect would rank high. Not the popular Peaky Blinders either and the recent-ish comedies I've liked the most seem to have started pre-2010. I also think that I would like Downtown Abbey quite a lot. Same case with Babylon Berlin! Not finished Watchmen either but where I'm at it is still very much up in the air where I would rank it.

Top 40

1. Twin Peaks: The Return (Some 2010+ list that I've come across have not included it on the basis of it being season 3 of something from way back)

2. The Crown (season 3 definitely the weakest for me compared to the masterful first two and almost drops it down a notch)

3. Dark
4. River
5. Too Old to Die Young (in many ways the most amazing show of all with the best scenes and best many things but can't say I really emotionally connected with it the way I did other favorite shows - that's why "only" at 5)
6. Happy Valley
7. Black Mirror (increasingly hit and miss it feels like but still...)
8. Sherlock
9. True Detective (Season 2>>Season 3 apart from the early Saulnier directed episodes )
10. Rectify
11. Succession
12. The Jinx
13. The Americans
14. The Terror (Season 1)
15. Halt and Catch Fire
16. Mindhunter
17. Game of Thrones
18. The Boys
19. Luck
20. Wasteland (Pustina, Czech tv series. 1 season very good)
21. The Leftovers
22. Better Call Saul (not watched season 4)
23. Bosch
24. Top of the Lake (only watched season 1)
25. Fargo
26. Escape at Dannemora
27. Show Me a Hero
28. Atlanta (only watched season 1 so maybe could be higher but have not been overwhelmed like hype suggested I would, so I kinda stopped watching)
29. You're the Worst
30. Bodyguard
31. The Punisher (mostly because of season 1 - during the follow up it suddenly hit me that this was quite bad but I loved season 1)
32. Hannibal
33. Louie
34. The Last Panthers
35. Banshee
36. Collateral
37. Detectorists
38. The Hollow Crown (not watched everything yet but deserves entry)
39. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
40. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (loved season 1 but quit early in 2, otherwise much higher)

Google Form with link to Google Sheet. Password is supbro.

Editable Google Sheet with all the nominees so far (73 total), including a couple from the OT thread. The sheet is sorted alphabetically, and there are 10 columns labeled 1st through 10th. Each voter puts their 2p2 username in a column of their choice.

It would look something like this:

Code:
Show Title 1st 2nd 3rd
Show 1 user1 user2 user3, user 4
Show 2 user2, user 3 user4 user1
Show 3 user4 user1, user3 user2

Done

I think these shows are missing and deserve at least a mention:

The Missing
Broadchurch
The Good Wife

Not sure if it qualifies, but maybe also Shark Tank.

Seconding this. Something like The Office cant rightfully be considered a 2010's show imo

I'm not trying to campaign for it just want as many ppl to get to experience the pure brilliance that is bojack.
This is truth. Its an easy top 10 show of the decade. Outside of maybe the first 5 episodes, every other episode is genius in one way or another. Great voice work and excellent overall writing in both drama and comedy.

Well lets see your votes on it. I tried a few of those 1st 5 episodes and never sparked for me but maybe I will skip to later in the 1st season and try again.

I would recommend it. Let me review a bit of the first season and I can tell you when I feel it really clicks

Alright, I'm in. A few thoughts while perusing the list.

1. Damn, the 2010's had a ton of shows starting with B that were absolute killers. Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Bojack Horseman, Billions, Barry, Broad City, and Bodyguard are all top notch shows.
2. For those who put True Detective, I think that a show's entire body of work should be considered. The awesomeness of S1 really does not make up for the sheer unwatachability of S2 or the overall mehness of S3.

Ok, just two thoughts

You're the Worst, the best show of the decade. lol

While I absolutely love episode 4 (Zoes and Zeldas) I think the series really hits its emotional stride with episode 5 (Live Fast, Diane Nguyen) when Bojack accompanies Diane to her childhood home in Boston.

It basically kicks off the majority of the Bojack/Diane storyline (I know people are concerned a lot of the time about will they/wont they storylines, but I promise that it doesnt continue for the entire series run.) and kicks off the emotional arc of the rest of the season.

Its easy to see that the team learned a lot from S1. I mean, check out the RT scores for the seasons.

S6:97
S5:98
S4:97
S3:100
S2:100

S1: Sixty ****ing seven.

Its kind of a miracle they even got to make a second season, but every episode in S2 is solid gold. I guess that's what happens when you release an entire season at once. They had what they thought worked in S1, realized it didnt, and took the bones to build something fairly new that turned out to be one of the best things ever put on TV.

Someone has to give it some love. Its my personal favorite show of all time, so yeah, Ill put it at the top of my decade list.

It had a similar critical arc to Bojack actually, so if you have never seen it or haven't gotten past the first 5 episodes you are missing out.

Episode 5: Sunday Funday is where the show really hits its stride, and it doesn't really miss after that.

RT scores:

S1: 81
S2: 97
S3:100
S4:100
S5:100

Its a fantastic show filled with amazing actors that deserved more love. Aya Cash should have 100% been at least nominated for an emmy in S2. (She likely doesn't win against the powerhouse that is Julia Louis-Dreyfus, but she deserved a spot on the nominee list much more than Laurie Metcalf [who I love] and Amy Schumer)

I have seen all of You're the Worst. I really didn't even care about the last season and was FFing thru the finale hoping it would end. The 1st few seasons were good tho.
12-28-2019 , 01:10 PM
Oh another B show: Baskets. Maybe not top 10 of the decade, but its a pretty great show, and Louie Anderson deserved his emmy in 2016 for it.

Interesting. I thought the finale was one of the most solid wrap ups to any show I've seen, and tied together everything we had seen in the previous season perfectly.

Cash and the lead guy were good, but horrible casting with the military guy, and the bro guy.
