In most cases, I agree with leaving a little behind just to be on stage for FJ, but not against an elite player on a top 5 run. Go down swinging at least.

I’m perfectly fine with leaving something behind to be around for FJ, but that was clue #7 in DD with $28000 left on the board. Since it’s the last DD, the game is pretty much a lock for a strong player like Amy anyway but you’re supposed at least try.

That entire episode was hilarious. Two contestants drawing completely dead, the $590 DD wager, something like $32.9k vs $2.7k vs $1k going into final iirc, 2nd place lighting $1k on fire and finishing 3rd, and a challenger literally named Patsy.

Glad Amy got her million. Kinda rooting for the competitors at this point though, at least to gaurantee closer wins. Glad she had one harder match on Thursday to get there. I'd still bet against her catching James, but it's probably close to 50/50 odds at this point?

Interesting NYT article about why there are so many recent long streak winners on Jeopardy

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/09/a...schneider.html

One thing the article states is that Cory Anotado, a game-show journalist will appear on the show as a contestant this week,

I'm sure he'll be well prepared and could give Amy a battle

Speaking of Ken, I thought he & Miyam were supposed to switch off bi-weekly? Seems like he's been hosting for more than 2 weeks.

When did they say this?

Mayim hosted 6 (?) weeks between the first two weeks of Mike Richards and Ken taking over in early November. Since Ken has nothing to do except for Jeopardy (and the Chase) and Mayim has a TV show and apparently a busy life, it's basically about when she has time to tape.

If they cancel "Call me Kat" after this season, there's a good chance Mayim is taking over permanently starting next season. Otherwise, Ken might stick around.

Ah, thanks for the info, madlex. No idea where I got the 2 week rotation idea.

Did they change the whole process over the last year? Otherwise that wouldn't even be possible with a bunch of people working Jeopardy tapings on Tuesday/Wednesday and Wheel of Fortune on Thursday/Friday.

So they ever have people on with the first same name? Non tourney.

I'd be bummed if that happened I like Ken way better.

Not that I’m aware of. In a tournament one player has to be called by a different name. This has happened.

No, why would they do that? I guess if there was a situation where they have to tape the final episode of the day and all but two potential challengers have diarrhea from gas station burritos for lunch, they would use the second name/nickname for the contestant that shares a first name with the champion. That's what they do for tournaments.

I have no strong opinion on that. Based on wording both in press releases and on the show, we know who #1 is though.

so William is champion, diarrhea happens and only another William is available as a contestant. They call him Bill. Bill wins. When he returns as champ, does he stay as Bill or go to his preferred name of William? something that keeps me up at night.

Believe it or not, I asked myself that question when writing that post yesterday. You should tweet @Jeopardy and ask. My guess is that he stays Bill on the show no matter how long his run is and they'll ask him at least once about it after the first break. That guy is probably also changing his twitter name to @William(akaBillFromJeopardy).
