definitively? I mean the showrunners say he only maybe knew, how are you asking for definitive proof????

Yes you can if you plan it out in advance. Here is the issue (I think), Mandy Patinkin doesn't stay with TV series that long, he likes Broadway. If he stayed on for 6 seasons, you could get creative - he could actually be the bad guy or anti-hero. IMO, he will leave the show and Season 4 will reboot around Carrie. A total disappointment for a complex show like Homeland. Most people I know who love these type of shows were very pissed off at the finale.

I think having viewers fills in the blanks for saul finding brody is fine (although some viewers can't be expected to do this, many of those viewers also won't care.)

however, "I think Saul knows" Brody killed the VP is pretty lol. Also the "I think the world thinks he is crazy" is fine, and makes sense, but I do wish they had spent a little more time on that in the show. A version of s3 where brody is in episode 1, the "plan" begins in earnest in episode 4ish, and they map the progress of brody in the public perception (and possibly don't rush execute him in 24hrs in front of a crowd of Iranian people who supposedly think he is a hero?) would have been much better. They could have even worked in Dana screentime by having her react to different iterations of Brody in the media, rather than that ridiculous Dana plotline.

It is incredibly bad storytelling to just wander aimlessly in Dana's life at the beginning of the season and then fail to check back in for one second when he got killed off. What was the point?

Please just re-watch season 2 (assuming you have already seen it). Saul does not know but Carrie definitely does. It should be obvious, but then again there are some people who think Brody might have survived a hanging itt.

Season 1 of Homeland is on a completely different level than 2 and 3. It was a bit of a mess wrapping this thing up but I actually am pretty satisfied with the character arcs (not necessarily the CIA/Terrorism plotline) as they stand at the end of s3. I am done with the show. Gave me one fantastic season, some tense moments, and some memorable characters. Overall however I just can't recommend this show to someone no matter how GOAT s1 was.

S1 > S3 > S2

Looking forward to S4. This show transitioned from a massive jump the shark fakie (when for 5 minutes we thought Carrie had really turned) to a solid spy show quite dramatically midway through this season. It's possible the show is spiraling, but it's also possible the show has found its footing and got rid of the storylines that were holding it back (Brody, Brody's family, Carrie's infatuation with Brody).

No, according to the showrunner (the person with the final say), Saul does know. Look above.

It doesn't really matter for the plot of the show--the point is that the showrunner making comments like that is a really bad sign.

Thought the finale was horrible. I have no problem with Brody dying but the way they did it was poorly executed (no pun intended). There was very little suspense and the rest of the show following was absolutely terrible.

I'm hoping they can put together a story that makes sense and is entertaining and suspenseful but I'm not hopeful.

The writing in this episode was some of the worst I've seen.

Seems crazy not to bow out after that episode. Agree that season 1 was extremely good.

Yeah early season 2 was great for sure, and I didn't mind 2.5 as much as most people.

Season 3 was kind of a mess though, definitely. Entertaining enough on its own, but it had nothing on the first 1½ seasons.

Feeling re: season 4 is decidedly meh.

I like the part where Saul goes to Senator Lockhart with sword and says "My real name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my agent Brody. Now prepare to die"

That controversial scene was not shown to most viewers or maybe I'm mixing up movies.

They way the hanging was done it was survivable with some preparation like a metal-tube in the trachea. But would be terribad if they go that way and I don't believe they will. What would be the motivation of anyone involved? Brody always was a pawn, and this was his final move.

I actually thought the 2nd half of S3 was very solid. 1st half was real bad.

agree that the S3 finale would have worked great as a series finale.

I actually googled whether or not this was the series finale while I was watching it, even though I knew it wasn't. It just flowed exactly like it was the ending of the show.

I look at the finale as the show hitting the reset button...which is EXACTLY what I wanted.

HIT THAT RESET BUTTON BABY
Eerily accurate.

-Brody is dead
-Dana and mom are gone
-Carrie has a kid

And the button was pushed!
