I guess I'm going to give this a shot, but man, I really disliked the book. And it is right in my wheelhouse, I should have loved it.

Everyone was raving about it and, after reading it, I remember telling my wife that the book reads like the author wanted to make a movie so he wrote a Dark Matter screenplay. He didn't have success getting the movie made so converted the screenplay into a novel.

It was a weird experience reading Dark Matter. It really felt like it didn't want to be a book and it was necessary step to getting a movie (or tv show) produced.

I'm obviously not saying this happened, it's just the impression the novel left me with.

Outer Range season 1 was elite...looking forward to season 2

Dark Matter is decent so far...I was kind of annoyed that Joel 1 wasn't asking more questions about the box and telling the scientists how he weas kidnapped and drugged.

Watched the Traitors marathon over the weekend. Very impressive, reminded me of Survivor back when it was good.

Too bad the first-run episodes are on that stupid Peacock network.

Redid Outer Ranger S1 to be able to do S2. Man that would have been tough to watch without redoing.

S1 was so freaking good.

surprised to see this re: Outer Range, but the posts below are more like it. Loved S1 and excited to watch S2.

I definitely need to do some YouTube recapping of S01, can't really remember a thing besides a vague recollection that it had a cool cliff-hanger ending...

I thought this was going to be sufficient too. Glad the wife talked me into the full rewatch.

Outer Range is a vibe. You almost need that vibe going right into S2 or it loses so much of what it is meant to be.

I started watching the Outer Range after having avoided it thinking it was like Yellowstone.

Kinda crazy how entertaining it is for a show where nothing happens. A lot of really unpleasant people too.

Somehow still good.

Like I said, it's a vibe. That show is all mood, and they nail it.

Yeah every scene is just tense.

Spoiler:

Yeah in S2 there are some scenes where I think a good editor doesn't let them make the final cut. In some spots they get a lil funky.

I find edibles help this show a lot. Fun living in a country where we just walk into a store and buy them like milk or bread, ahaha.

sorry if it's been mentioned and I missed it but has anyone watched the Lazarus project?
I'm not generally big on regular network shows like TNT but I am a sucker for time travel plots.

it was cancelled after it's 2nd season but the big bang theory and 2.5men got a million seasons so I don't give that very much credence.

Season 2 of Outer Range was good. Not better than the first IMO. Gonna have to watch some youtube theory videos.

Spoiler:
The cliffhanger was kind of lame, doesn't feel like a whole lot happened this season that was meaningful. Seems like they teased Amy/Autumn is Royal's elder the way he was dying the second she got shot. Perry is in some alternate timeline now. Lots of ways this could go

I saw an interesting comment about all the names having a deeper meaning.

Spoiler:
Tillerson = tiller ie miner, Royal Abbot = the God King (his whole clan telling him that his destiny is to save time), the land mans last name was cleaver and hes trying to cleave off a chunk of the Abbots land, etc etc.

A lot of the show so far is incredibly similar to Dark and likely has similar inspirations (a real world cult) and this show probably drew directly from Dark in some instances. There is some overarching mythology that is related as well that could potentially point to some things that might happen in the next season. Royal will probably lose his memories again at some point as a rebirth. This was a solid video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr5oPZ6Mb2g

now netflix seems to have only tentatively renewed it for "additional episodes", which might mean just 4-8 more eps to wrap up the series. their announcement was extremely vague, i don't think they even really know yet. which means they could just end up canceling it altogether. but it seems unlikely now that it will get 4 full seasons like they originally hoped.

Hmm, A book an episode? Now that should be action packed (lol)!

Sigh. smh

I guess it's still better than outright cancelling it. On 2nd thought, it doesn't matter to me, I'm in the reservation queue for the books at my local library.

Maybe the episodes are unpredictably changing relative to each other.

Seems extremely unlikely they are cancelling it after the announcement of going to see the conclusion of the books. Doing another 3 seasons would have meant >$500mil in financial commitment which seemed unlikely anyway with the viewing numbers.
