That's correct, it's pretty close to the book. S2 on is completely new but the author is still involved. I'll echo everyone else, I think I enjoyed S1 more than most but the next two were on another level

Good to know. I'll take that under advisement.

Every post I make in this thread is "I read the book, and..."

And - I read Shantaram, the main character (& author) thinks he's likeable and smart, but he's annoying and dumb, and I wanted to punch him. It is my number two red flag for someone's favourite book, after Marx obviously. Maybe I should demote it to behind Rand, but it's close.

Haha think it's my brother's favourite book. I'll have to introduce him to Marx.

Show seems to be getting pretty panned in the reviews.

Speaking of The Leftovers:

Yes, it’s long as hell, but it’s the only comprehensive video I’ve seen on the show. It spoils everything but it does offer interesting insight on everything as well.

Anyone here remember the show The Black Donnellys? It was on NBC back in like ‘07 for 1 season. It was one of Olivia Wilde’s first rolls. I remember thinking it started out decent and ended pretty well.

Started watching it again tonight after not seeing it since it aired. It’s worth a watch if you can find it. You can see why it didn’t catch on and why it was cancelled. But it also seems pretty ambitious production wise and looks pretty damn good most of the time. And good god was Olivia Wilde stunning in this show.

I watched that in Afghanistan. Great show. Tried to watch again the other year with my wife but she didn't seem that into it after an ep so we stopped.

I tried to get into this and seemed like the first 2-3 episodes it couldn't decide what tone it wanted. It would swing from corny, to serious. Does it end up going one way or the other ?

I remember liking it, but it premiered right on the tail of The Sopranos ending, and it didn't come close to matching the quality. Believe it was getting comparisons.

IMO, It gets better every season. I consider it the most underrated show of the past 10 years.

La Brea keeps on keepin on. I’m really interested in where they take the concept and the world building, with incredibly low expectations. The interpersonal drama is so awful. Some of the actors are still quite rough. I wonder if this is doing enough to consider a third season. Maybe it’s worth it just to add a long-running show into the catelog of Peacock.

In the main love triangle, One of them will eventually sacrifice themselves. But they should really lean into being a thrupple. It would be very modern.

I gave up on this after 20 minutes of s2 e1.

I'm not getting stuck in a bad sci-fi show just to see where the writers are going.

I did that with Flash Forward, Terra Nova, The Event (UGH!!), Debris and Manifest. (and I'm sure I've mercifully forgotten some others)

Took me too bleepin' long but I finally learned my lesson

Kurn mentioned Manifest, I gave up early on that and watched a few episodes each new season and gave up again but Netflix has picked it up and Season 4 is November 4th and probably complete season on that day. I will for sure try the new season now that NF picked it up.

The Mole was fine. Used Netflix’s 1.5X function a lot. But they put together a strong cast and they did some fun stuff in beautiful parts of Australia.

My take on these shows is that I want to know who the Mole is. I want to see how they act throughout the entire game. It isnt fun to just have one person lying to the audience all season.

Seems easy enough to google who they are before watching, no?

Maybe. I still wouldnt want spoilers.

I held out hope that they would reveal the mole in an interesting fashion some time in the middle. They did not
