Even in the book the reasoning for betraying Jon is flimsy

how is it flimsy? he first let the wildlings pass through the gate and then decides to march to winterfell. they put up with enough of his ****.

At least in the books, it's for something thought to be fairly central to their vow, that they don't involve themselves in the politics of the realm.

I was disappointed to see Varys show up in Mereen. He's a long way from his book storyline now. Though, the future scenes with Tyrion ruling Mereen should be good.

Likewise, it seems speculation in this thread that Littlefinger will be the one to assassinate Kevan Lannister is most likely.

With Littlefinger in King's Landing and Sansa on the run with Theon, the Vale storyline has been decimated. I thought it was possible that book-Sansa could somehow end up at Winterfell. But, she was a pure Jeyne Poole replacement.

Are Theon and Sansa headed for the kingsmoot?

As people have pointed out on reddit, the night's watch reasoning for betraying Jon is pretty thin without him riding south to fight the boltons. He couldn't have received a letter demanding Davos/Mel and saying Ramsay has Sansa. Though I guess in the book Ramsay demands Arya. So I guess he would have to demand Sansa back and say he had Stannis? Probably could have happened. What did Jon get betrayed for? The remaining watch members would have talked at length about what they saw at Hardholme. It's one thing for Thorne to have given Jon **** in episode 9 when they're just returning but no one would care about the Wildlings after hearing dozens of accounts about how the White Walkers raised an army of the dead while taunting the living.

And yeah Mel will res him.
These are my thoughts exactly. Theres an army of the undead, and your commander seems to be the only one who is trying to do something about it and they kill him lol. I know this doesn't really matter, but Kit said in an interview that he won't be back next season. I know he's not going to spoil anything, but to flat out say Im done is troubling, because that arc really doesnt have much going for it without jon.

He said he's been told he's dead, would you really expect him to say hel be back and spoil the show and the books?

Even if he wasn't getting brought back, shouldn't there be a scene with his body? Its confirmed he's signed for the next season, and even if he dismissed it there is talk of him negotiating for the 7th.

I dont really understand how that arc can really progress with out him though, who's the central carry? Sam? Mel? These are secondary characters.

Right, this is a giveaway, as is the red queen coming back to castle black for literally no conceivable reason.

So Sansa isn't dead? Looked like a suicide since they were pretty high up. Then again I thought bran died at the end of s1e1 before I read the books.

it looked pretty obvious that Mel finally realized stannis isn't the chosen one (that's why she looks so defeated), so she goes to the wall to be with Jon because she saw something in him before.

Really surprised they didnt just revive him, or strongly hint at his revival at least, keeping this around as some sort of shock next season seems unrealistic. Even a show watcher only can realize that entire Nights watch storyline, one of the centerpieces of the show/book, has no POV at all with Jon dead & Sam gone.

Not that hard for Bronn to walk in with the antidote. I think it is unlikely but it is still possible. Also her death in itself doesn't do much for the Dorne plotline anyway. It is still all about how people respond to it.

Yeah I'm also surprised they ended it that way, but then again the whole season was AIDS (save for a couple episodes) so I probably shouldn't be.

Last year at this time I couldn't imagine waiting all year for season 5 whereas right now I don't really gaf.
