"Oh Ned forbade it. He said it wouldn't be right if he broke a man's jaw on our wedding night."
06-03-2013 , 05:26 PM
She was talking about the bedding ceremony, and how Ned wouldn't allow it, because he didn't want to break anyone's jaw on his wedding night.

Has GRRM ever said this? I thought it was just a fan reaction to Ned + RW.

Sure seemed like it to me. It made Cat seem really dumb in that she sees all the warning signs and takes sooooo long to react. Also that she slaps Bolton instead of stabbing him in the face with a fork or something.

it seemed like he was. alternative explanation might be that he was looking at the knife on the table to make sure she wouldn't grab it, but that doesn't make much sense given the smirk on his face.

lol...you guys really have it in for Cat. Her reaction is perfectly normal and not slow at all.

And I like UnCat.

That is directly after RB says he's sure she endured hers with grace.

Here's the entire exchange:

Cat: Poor girl

RB: Every bride suffers the same, I'm sure you endured yours with grace.

Cat: Oh Ned forbade it, he said it wouldn't be right if he broke a man's jaw on our wedding night.

RB: Hmmph

Probably The Mountain too.

maybe Dominic is that particular client of Littlefinger.

Me too. It's a perfect way of showing how helpless, powerless, and irrational she is.

lol...I have a feeling I'm being slagged, but I don't know what this means.

i think in the first book LF talks to varys about a client who likes cadavers
06-03-2013 , 05:45 PM
Littlefinger alluded to having a client that prefers his whores dead, or at least horribly mupliated.

Also, Michelle Fairley was great in this role. Cat often gets dissed for her decisions, but she was often placed between a rock and a hard place and did the best she could.

Ahhh! That's right.

Eww.

Michelle Fairley was awesome, the problem is that the character, as written in the books, is terrible.

Yeah, he was one of the three as was mentioned earlier, I was throwing in Drogo as a sort of fourth.

They were talking about the bedding ceremony. Bolton said something like "yeah but you went through it too on your wedding night" and she told him she didn't, because Ned didn't think it would proper to break someone's jaw on his wedding day.

What's the list of characters that readers were led to believe had died, and then they turned up alive or resurrected? I don't mean close call stuff, but rather grrm being purposely misleading.

Off the top of my head:

didn't actually die
Bran (tower fall)
Bran + Rickon (Theon kills)
Arya (Hound axe)
Davos (Manderly hanging)

resurrections
Drogo
Mountain
Cat
Beric
Jon (99%)

@Dom, Cat tells Roose that she never had to go through the bedding ceremony because Ned didn't want to break anyone's jaw.

Didn't Arya also "die" in Bravos? Or where ever the hell she was in the house of the dying?
06-03-2013 , 06:04 PM
I think you're thinking of when she went blind, and it was only temporary. So that was a fakeout but not a fake death at least.

tyrion drowning, davos exploding

Theon?

Beric is the only one who was resurrected to be somewhat normal
