LOL @ naming Robb's unborn child "Eddard". Ned dies in episode 9 again

What was shooting the scene like for the actors?

Weiss: We tried to call Michelle [Fairley] afterwards. She wasn’t answering. A week later she wrote an email saying, “Sorry I haven’t been able to talk to anybody about the show for the past week because I’ve been so shattered.”

Meh. It could have been much better. The book scene is pretty much perfect. The episode was only 52 mins. The scene was too short and went way too fast. Roose killing Robb should have been much more drawn out. He comes in, stabs him, and quickly says the line. I imagined him slowly walking up, they stare at each other for a few seconds, then he suddenly stabs him.

this is how I pictured it too

I always saw Robb getting a big sword jabbed and twisted through his heart while on his knees, shrug

I always pictured the fatal blow coming from behind, with Bolton whispering that line in his ear. Oh well.

My only complaint is there could have been more build up. Like, the thing I remember from the books was the drumming. The constant drumming and Cat knowing that *something* was wrong, but she couldn't quite place it.

This did not come across well on tv, maybe due to time constraints.

Chainmail under his sleeve. He probably shouldn't need that for a wedding.

Things I didn't like:
- Guest right not being emphasized. It was shown but not explained.
- Bran & co. not being in a tower in the middle of a lake. I understand why they didn't ($), but was hoping for some cool visuals.
- no Grey Wind head switch, although maybe it's still to come.
- and of course, no Roose Change! Would have been amazing.

Things I liked:
- everything else. As much as I can nitpick minor elements of the adaptation, the showrunners really do an amazing job adapting this thing to TV. The pacing, suspense, and brutality of the RW were portrayed so well.
- John's breakaway from the wildlings was his best scene all season.
- Bran's scene was also his best this season

The grey wind thing doesn't happen in the same chapter as the red wedding thing. We hear about it later in someone else's chapter.

they could only mention next ep and not show it. it would be the smartest decision budget wise.
maybe show joffrey telling sansa about it.

The way the Lothar Frey closes the doors after the bedding, the Rains starts to play is just plain nightmarish.

True, but the show doesn't seem to do visual flashbacks, so if it's shown, it would be tonight or in the aftermath early next week. Having it come out only as a verbal recounting by another character would be a letdown imo.
06-03-2013 , 01:49 AM
it came out from Joffrey hearing about it and acting like a giddy schoolgirl over the RW news I think? it would be the exact same as the book if it happens next week when they show Kings Landing scenes

Very well done. Sudden, brutal, and devastating. The way it should be. Those of you wanting it more drawn out are just wrong - it would help ease the blow, and this is exactly what we don't want for this episode.

Excellent.
