Except she's not hot.

The problem is he spoke too much. The alarm thing was a pretty good excuse, he just kept going on about it. If he had just said that and let that be all, it's much more believable then going into excruciating detail. It was easy to tell he was lying.

So what exactly are you hating? The character, the writing, being human...?

I thought this episode was great.

I think Skylar is hot, and the tension that she generates is a good thing.

As for the Alpha Beta Male Soup, well, um, okay, suppose that's a useful prism to look at the world through, never subscribed to it, though, so I don't know what to say...

I'm curious if there are Gamma Males (or is it based on the phonetic alphabet, and next would be Charlie Males?) or if Alpha/Beta are sufficient for all malekind.

I'm not hating anything. I am just saying that Walt's lie was not very believable because he continued to add detail to it. Had he just said, I use it as an alarm, and ended it there, it would have been more believable than what he did do.

I don't know you got that I'm "hating" anything from that.

Oh, sorry. When you responded to the "Don't get all the hate for this episode" with: "The problem is..." I thought you were objecting, and I didn't understand whether it was the character you didn't find believable, or the writing you had a problem with, or the actor you maybe thought wasn't pulling off the writing and character well enough, or whether it was something else.

Tonight's was great imo. A really good one by Pinkman especailly - his talks with Walt, the rent girl, his dealers - after last week's life drubbing he took, he came back pretty strong this week.

And damn, that drug biz can get serious fast.

loved the writing for both the chicks in this episode, loved how they got called out for their ****, but somehow those calling them on it were the *******s (especially liked how Marie eventually apologized which showed the difference between her and Skylar)

interesting developments for Hank as well

Walt is such a badass

What I really like about this show is that they aren't rushing things. They are letting story lines play out naturally. In most other shows the conflict between Walt and Skyler would've been tied up all nice and neatly this week. Instead they actually let the gap between them grow wider.

They are taking time to develop the secondary characters too. My biggest criticism of season 1 was that Hank was like "comic relief guy." Whenever they needed someone to crack a joke in strolled Hank to call Walt a pussy or something to that effect. Now that Hank is not just some caricature of the big tough cop his character becomes so much more interesting.

By far my favorite scene this week was the barbeque scene. I really can't wait to see how Hank handles it when he starts to suspect Walt is Eisenberg
04-06-2009 , 02:20 AM
Gotta love how Walt knows the score about getting ripped off better than Jesse even though Jesse is the "guy from the streets" Definitely setting up Walt taking a bigger hand in operations when he thinks Jesse can't hack it.
04-06-2009 , 06:00 AM
Walt telling Jesse to handle it was definitely a chilling moment but I doubt very much Jesse will go through with it. They are going to have to get some muscle somehow.
04-06-2009 , 07:06 AM
Also, "perhaps I smoked them in a fugue state" was such a great line.
04-06-2009 , 09:33 AM
That was a great line, I also liked the methhead laughing maniacally when they were robbing Skinny P.

Walt and Jesse are just fantastic together in this show.

With a capital E!

(But seriously, i don't expect everyone to be familiar with Heisenberg, and i could see someone who isn't mis-hearing his name watching the show)

That'll learn ya!

Walt is going to become the next Tuco.
04-06-2009 , 01:14 PM
Anyone else just want to punch Walt in the face? He thinks he knows everything, but he's too big of a pussy to do anything himself. Couldn't kill Tuco, but now he thinks he's some kind of bad ass.
04-06-2009 , 01:14 PM
I don't think I get why he threw Tuco's grill away.

bad luck ever since. whatever that was in the elevator (small heart attack?), cutting his hand when the bottle broke, the bottles exploding in the middle of the night.

Please be leveling. He clearly has some sort of post traumatic stress disorder and wants to get rid of any reminder of him killing Tuco.

actually i'm fairly confident hank is an inside man for the mexican cartels that is struggling with the death of his former associate and lover tuco

If the writers are trying to make us hate her, they're doing a good job.
She's 7 months pregnant, her husband is dying of cancer, and he's been disappearing with no explanation for a couple months, and is obviously lying to her. I was cheering her on for half the episode.

Have to give his performance props. They took him down to nothing right quick, didn't they?

Of course TV can't allow anyone to kill someone, even justifiably, and have no after effect. PTSD was obvious.
