Really hate Skyler as a character and the actress playing her. It's like they're trying way too hard to be abstract and cool with her silence during scenes that should contain more dialogue. It's just frustrating and annoying to watch. Also as if I didn't need any more reasons to hate her, she smokes cigarettes while pregnant. If the writers are trying to make us hate her, they're doing a good job.

Yeah, I really can't stand her face. It annoyed me since I first saw her in Deadwood.

i didnt read the thread, but you can find the first 3 episodes for season 2 online.

breaking bad is really a great show and more surprising is the network that it is on.

considering 4 episodes have aired, this isn't exactly newsworthy.

Too many nits complaining about Skyler. You forget Walt cooks crystal meth and gets himself into these sticky situations by making questionable decisions. She tried to ignore Walt but he kept giving her reasons to force Skyler to reconsider her support for him. If she pretends like Walt is somehow doing something noble (when she clearly knows something is dirty wrong), then we'd criticize her lack of awareness. Her role fits the show, and so did her actions.

Also, I'm guessing that none of you have lived with a pregnant woman for an extended period of time, but they LOSE THEIR MINDS. They're not really capturing the mood-swing element of the pregnancy psychosis, but if you think women in general are unreasonable you should spend some time around pregnant ones.

By far the worst episode imo but almost all the others are amazing so w/e. Too much dead time with teaching his son to drive, his wife being a bitch etc. Also more inconsistency in Cranston's role of being a genius most times and a ****** others like someone mentioned. Writers can blame the cancer I guess. It's weird someone said jesse's mom's acting was amazing b/c I remember thinking her acting was god awful while Paul and Cranston are great.

Skylar's charachter is great as she represents all the hot American yuppie boss wives that are legion, who after years of banging Alpha Males in college finally settle down with a wimpy Beta Male that will put up with all her **** and provide for her. And now that Walt is quickly turning into an Alpha Male she starts flipping out.

i was rooting for walt to get his ass kicked in the RV when he started acting all hard. Pretty sure that was the first time Sky had a smoke since being preggers. She's basically lost it which is pretty understandable. is she a passive aggressive bitch? Of course, but I can't really blame her.

Aaron Paul turns in one of the greatest acting performances ever in this episode, IMO. He character is an emotional mess throughout "Down" from the issues coming at him at all angles. An A+++ performance, he amazed in this.
Please stop. I like the show as well, I just watched all the eps in a 3 day span, in between studying for exams. That doesn't mean I need to fill all my posts with unnecessary hyperbole.

They aren't trying to be abstract and cool. Skylar is being passive aggressive and giving Walt a taste of his own medicine because he has been so aloof in the past episodes. Showing her smoking is clearly showing how stressed she is and you interpreting it as "ZOMG SMOKING WHILE PREGNANT THAT IS UNHEALTHY" shows you completely missed the point.

I'm pretty sure that Gomez (Hank's partner) is the worst actor on a good TV show right now.

Agreed. Since the first time she came back from being "out" I was waiting for Walt shouting at her "COULD YOU BE ANY MORE PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE?".

Awesome show I have to say. Jesse and Walt are both very very good actors and their dynamic is really nice to watch.

Also liked the DEA guys delivery in the hospital to Walt about how he found Tuco and gets mads props for shooting him. "You should disappear more often. But really.... don't!"

See Marchand, Nancy as Livia Soprano

(who was, imo, the best of the many great things about that show)

So like on the same level as say Pacino in Godfather?

Don't get all the hate for this episode. Walt has had this coming from Skylar for quite a while, and he was sending off some serious tells by cooking breakfast and the phone alarm story.

I think he's making so many mistakes because he's just mentally exhausted. He has no stable relationships, he's going to die any time now, and all he really has left is this goal of making a bunch of money for people that he is quickly losing touch with. Stuff is really coming back around to bite him. I think we're in for some heavy stuff this Sunday, can't wait.

knew you'd fire something like that. yes. having to play a guy whos hit rock bottom, losing everything at the end of his relationship with his parents (whatever was left) is very tough to do, he rocked it and made it look very real.

Yes, I know your next response is laughter. But will you still be laughing if he takes home an Emmy (for this episode specifically)? I'm the one going out on a limb before the fact.

The facts, as I see them.

1. Breaking Bad has had great writing, acting and directing, overall.
2. Past episode was a letdown, compared to previous eps.
3. It HAD to be a letdown. Walt and Jesse just unloaded Tuco!
4. Yes, Skylar was an easy characer to dislike. Her behavior annoys us because we KNOW what Walt has been doing. She doesn't. Completely understandable and realistic.

The show just got picked up for a third season, so I think we can all be happy about that.

Agreed that it's an adrenaline letdown, but disagree that it's a letdown overall. I just think the show is doing an excellent job of maintaining that perfect balance of drama and action. The nonverbal acting by Skylar was great, enough to piss off a whole lot of people even!
