The premiere is scheduled for this Sunday on AMC at 10pm.

The basic premise is that this guy's life is messed up and he starts cooking meth looking for a way out. Its a drama/dark comedy.

From wiki- "The series stars Malcolm in the Middle's Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher with a handicapped child and a pregnant wife. When White is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, he ""loses it" and turns to a life of crime, setting up a meth lab in order to support his family"

Reviews have been good so far, although i didn't want to read too many. First season will have 9 episodes. AMC did pretty well, winning a bunch of Golden Globes for their last scripted drama this past year, Mad Men.

i saw some clips of this; it looks pretty funny.
you gotta give some credit to a grown actor willing to run around in tighty-whities.

sounds good and I love this actor

Seriously could you make this show starring a black dude in America today?

The Wire

Haha Brian Cranston is hilarious, this should be awesome.

Is it weird if I say I didn't hate Malcolm in the Middle? I discovered it recently watching reruns (only so many times you can rewatch Seinfeld)

of course not, everyone knows meth is the drug of choice among white trash

This show looks really stupid. The commercials AMC is constantly running for it don't make it look funny in the slightest and only the least bit intriguing.

Not at all, that show is hilarious. The funny thing is that Malcolm is by far the least funny member of his family (possibly including the baby that comes). The other three brothers and the parents all have just brilliant moments.

I don't see how it funny (strange) that Malcolm isn't funny (haha). I thought the whole premise was that he was the normal smart one in a ****ed up family?

If this is somewhere in the region of Weeds quality I will be a happy man when it magically appears on my laptop.

I really like that actor, whatever his name is.

I think this is the premise for half the sitcoms out there. Take seinfield. Jerry is a little funny, but he's no where near Kramer's or George's level of funny.

more like anti-dentite imo

Bump. Did anybody watch the premier? I did, and I thought it was really good. Probably because I have always been intrigued by the idea of cooking meth. Anyway, episode 2 is tomorrow...

same here sards, I really enjoyed the pilot, but I feel like I really wanted to enjoy it, so I forced myself to...if that makes any sense

it's already TiVO'd tho.

Bump for Season 2 startong tonight. I loved Season 1 but was pissed the writers strike basicly cut it short just as it was starting to really pick up steam.

Very pumped about season 2

Anyway, after watching way too many Malcolm in the Middle I have a hard time seeing him if this is gonna be more drama than comedy.

This show is amazing, and comes with the added bonus that it's too difficult for my wife to watch so I get to see it in solitude.
03-08-2009 , 08:04 PM
psyched about this

I heard Cranston on NPR last week pushing this show. He has a background in criminlogy IRL- not sure if that's significant to this show. Anyone want to give a quick summary of where we are going into S2 for those who missed S1?
