yeah lalo was an extremely necessary charisma bomb given how many characters in this show (gus, mike, nacho, the mute twins, wheelchair hector, etc) were restrained figures for one reason or another. he was also an effective general antagonist to most of the main characters, was performed brilliantly by tony dalton, and this plus how well the the character filled a gaping void in the show, but not much more than that if you sit down and examine it like bro in above video.
bcs probably needed more new characters that didn't appear in bb, because it really lacked tension in scenes where it was supposed to exist ... except that most of the viewers know the future, so. for this reason i think some of lalo's best scenes were with characters like nacho and kim, because everything was still on the table. there was a lot of bad anticlimax stuff with the rest of it. even lalo's germany arc was a dud because it seemed like he had the plot armor to survive to a final showdown with gus/mike, and he did. and then there was no tension in that either because he know gus wins, and they even showed us how ahead of time with the stashed chekhov's gun lol

thought he said that vince took a step back after the 3rd season, but yeah either way that might help explain how things were
off towards the end. thought the best part of the series was the jimmy v chuck stuff in seasons 1-3, they kind of struggled after that. the arcs with jimmy selling phones, defending huell, the building of the lab, etc were all kind of boring. and yeah even at the end it seemed like they were still wasting time at points, diving headfirst into pointless anticlimax for some reason. really would have preferred if they delved deeper into the characters and motivations etc of jimmy & kimmy especially, but also gus, mike, hell even lalo. they were all kind of superficial and flat.
guess i have no choice to blame gould for instead turning the show into a pointless easter egg hunt and all the bb origin stories that no literally no one asked for
(just saw the clip again from season 6 where all the scumbag clients start showing up at jimmy's office because he defended lalo and "spooge" introduces himself as spooge lmao gtfo.
"hello mr. lawyer, i'm spooge" **** me...)
