The Cinnabon scene was saul post breaking bad hence him putting in the videotape and watching his old better call Saul commercials. He made a reference in the granite state where he said I'll be lucky if I'm managing a Cinnabon in Omaha nebraska

Some of those numbers are just going to be leak over from the massive return of The Walking Dead with the droolers not changing the channel. Regardless, it would have to have a massive crash to be in any kind of trouble, and with the Breaking Bad fan base there's no chance of that.
Lol wut there's always a lead in of some kind for premiers, with hopes that people won't change the channel.

Really strong start, IMO. The second episode was directed by Michelle MacLaren, who is considered one of the best directors in TV, if not the best. She has directed classic BrBa eps (Hank gun fight with the twins, Walt offing the guys in prison) as well as some great GoT eps. They are pulling out the big guns to get this started and I hope it keeps up. Here is an article about her on Slate.

Enjoying watching Saul/Jimmy become a multiple dimensional character. So far Odenkirk is pulling it off.

What I'm saying is that those numbers are misleading, and PR babble acts like they're not. You'll know how it's doing later this evening, but it's very unlikely it will be doing as well as it did on Sunday.

The ratings are out for the time slot premiere, and it lost a little over half its viewers from the post The Walking Dead slot. That's not really a surprise, and the ratings are still excellent for a basic cable show.

Sunday:

3.4 in the 18-49 demo with 6.9 million viewers

Monday:

1.7 in the 18-49 demo with 3.4 million viewers

I had really high hopes for teh show and it's rare that such high hopes are met. Gilligan is the man.

I'm really enjoying this.

I am surprised we already have Tuco and his crew.

I'm with the general consensus. I really enjoyed the first two episodes. I was not expecting much and quite frankly, when I heard they were doing this spin-off, I scoffed. As much as I enjoyed Saul's character in BB I thought this was a bad idea. I should have had more faith in Gilligan.

Overall I loved it. Some of the second episode belongs on the cutting room floor though. The scene where it showed him arguing the cases as public defender was way too long. I got the point about 1/8th of the way through. Also how many interactions with Mike did we need to see? He's a stickler for proper validation. Showing us twice would have been plenty.

Definitely will watch every episode and am thrilled it's finally running though

Did I miss something that pointed out that Chuck and Saul are brothers? Michael McKean is in his late-60's, and Bob Odenkirk is in his early 50's, and he looks even younger than that. I just assumed Chuck was his father, not his brother.

Stated in the first episode in his conference room meeting with Chuck's partner.

Loved every single second of it. I already had high expectations going into this but the first two episodes already exceeded those expectations. Loved it. will be in the whole way for how many season it takes and for whatever Gilligan does in the future.

I do kind of wonder if it would be better to watch BB then BCS, or BCS then BB -- assuming you haven't seen either, of course. Probably easier to answer this after BCS finishes up.

I agree with this. I think it would be cool to see this without having seen BB. Remember the thrill of meeting Tuco for the first time? New viewers just got to experience that. To be truly successful, this show is going to have to stand on its own anyway. It needs to bring in new viewers who never saw BB.

I didn't recall them saying he was his brother. I'll have to check it tonight when I go home. I did assume it was his brother though. Seems like he was his father that either Saul would have called him that or one of the partners would have.

The episodes are up for free on the amc website for 30 days. Just have to sit through a lot of commercials, but I just mute them and browse the internet obv.

I wasn't too impressed with BB at first. After Tuco I was totally hooked.

Yeah but... new viewers were introduced to a gentler Tuco.

I'm guessing we should avoid BB spoilers here.
We have some BCS viewers who haven't seen BB and will surely watch it in the future after seeing BCS.
