So in case you missed it, like I did, the skaters hit the wrong car. It wasn't the nanny or whatever.

Yep. I was pretty psyched when I saw who Saul's original target was, then a little disappointed when it wasn't her. But how do you beat the fact that it brought Tuco back?

anyone watching that hasn't seen breaking bad?

i remain skeptical.

for me, it still could go either way.

on r/bettercallsaul people were saing 'bravo' and basically giving it a standing ovation. I don't think we are anywhere near that point yet.

It's cool to get easter eggs from breaking bad but after a while it just becomes a bit too self aggrandizing

"hey guys... look.. it's MIKE"

"hey guys... *wink*...*annoying **** eating grin*.... look at this thing from the other show that is now on this show!"

I honestly expected better from the premerie, and I already had my hopes down.

I would say it was probably around a B- start.

BrBa started slow too.
The show that opens with a man in only his undies and a gas mask hauling ass in an RV with dead bodies sliding along the back, recording a to-view-after-death video for his family and holding a gun up toward oncoming sirens started slow? If there's a show that starts faster than Breaking Bad, I'd like to know what it is.

The Tuco reveal at the end made the episode worth it regardless of what you thought about it up to that point.

First car hit scene was quite a jump scare.

My only nit-picky complaint is that when I saw the old lady speaking Spanish my first thought was Tuco. Telegraphed it.

Why would you think that Saul meeting Mike and the Tuco reveal are "Easter Eggs"? If this is Saul's backstory, then aren't these two events (meeting Mike and how he gets involved in the drug business) integral parts of his story?

From Saul in Breaking Bad and that is where this was.
It was the perfect opening to the series. Laughed really hard. Looking forward to tonight and the rest of the season.

Driving past Walt's house would be an Easter egg. Meeting characters from BB are not.

very, very impressed. The atmosphere is perfect, with a wonderful balance of comedy and gloom. One of my favourite aspects of Saul's character in BB was the constant notion that behind the confident, flashy facade he was really just a tragic loser who was only ever a coinflip away from having nothing, and I'm excited to see this show reflecting that from the outset.

Awesome pilot ep. Loved it. Didn't realize how much I missed that signature BrBa cinematography and pacing style.

I'm glad there are a ton of BrBa fanatics out there that will catch all the subtle references because I seem to miss most of them.

This was quality TV. Gilligan was on his game and Odenkirk did a solid job. Michael McKean was great as Chuck - I hope we get to see more of him. The big question I have about this as a long-term series is if Saul can become a compelling enough character (and if Odenkirk has the acting chops to pull it off) to keep me fully engaged the way I was with BrBa. Even beyond Walt, Skyler and Hank were difficult to take your eyes off, not to mention Gus and Mike. It will be interesting to see if they can create characters that keep the audience as fully engaged.

I think the show went almost 9 minutes before there was any real dialog. Not many shows can do that these days.

Anyone know if the writers/producers are doing post-show podcasts like they did for BrBa?

Thought the premiere was fantastic, had a little chuckle at the beginning since saul was a manager of a cinnabon in nebraska.

Not sure if I missed something but did they say what exactly was wrong with his brother? He just has some intense paranoia wrt electromagnetism?

They didn't say what it was, but that's a pretty good assumption.
