Ive noticed a lot of people have laich penciled into 2c but im just not buying that. He's not skilled like johansson is which i think matters when it comes to centering semin. That and laich/brouwer seem redundant. I think if you put semin, laich, and brouwer together it's going to necessitate semin as the primary puck carrier. Every possession will either be some ****ty dump in by laich or brouwer, or some semin ****-spectacular blue line turnover.

Laich on the 3c with ward is a shutdown line who can put the puck in the net, but isnt required to shoulder the offensive load. Chimera's an offensive blackhole but he can skate. Eakin on the 4th with halpy means he wont be relied on to take the brunt of faceoffs, and he'll be free to do his thing. Ship it.

Maybe chimera to 4th and eakin to 3rd line W?

Yes, Semin doesn't speak english very well, but he seems to have made the conscious decision not to try. I get more and more sick of him as time passes.

i've said it before. they should stop worrying about chemistry and just match the speeds. i like ov-back-semin to be the first line. first of all knuble seems to be declining, and he clearly can't catch up to ov and backstrom when they bring the puck in. what's the point of trying to get him to the net? ov/semin don't give up that much to knuble in that department.

second line is going to be a bit of gongshow, i see brouwer/knuble/ward/laich all sharing minutes there as wingers, with johansson as a full-time center. chimera/eakin might even be there in some games for a period or two. i would actually like brouwer/mojo/laich a lot, even though i know very little about brouwer. but i see mojo/laich going up against second/third-line D and i like our chances. they can beat people with their skates, or with the stick.

ward/laich/chimera or ward/halpern/chimera is a solid 3rd line. we are a little thin on 3C/4C position, but hopefully we can yo-yo MP85 or Sjorgen between hershey and washington and fill in adequately with some charmin' soft minutes.

oh look, semin has the best or the second best ES P/60 in the regular season AND playoffs. and he is the team's best PK guy, who wasn't put on the ice in any SH situations in the playoffs. clearly doesn't care.

Sure, Semin cycles contrary to the typical North American style and I won't argue about his pick pocket ability, but why then can't he produce offensive numbers equivalant to his ability?

Anyway, I just appreciate Backstrom as more valuable and necessary than Semin. He works the corners better and Ovie needs him more, a sentiment the organization aparently agrees with, since it is clearly reticent to award him a long term deal.
