There's actually a legit chance we are better in every offenive unit next year, including TE.

As far as defense, buckle your seatbelts.

We have a C+ group of game day coaches. If we didn't have Brown it might be a D+.

Lot of evidence out there by now that Harbaugh is a poor game day strategist.

All those second and long runs. What the ****?

No effort to attack their weak points, no adjustments to slow down #44.

AWFUL clock management. Again.

OLine improved zero thru the year.

Give up endless third and longs with no adjustments.

Bleh.

I think the oline subject is weird, I feel they did what they could with the garbage they had. They made them good against teams that we use to have trouble with. But when it came time to go against elite talent, they struggled.

I'm still in the boat of the oline was doomed and we did what we could.

Edit: brown got extended 5 years at 1.4 a year

The Orange Bowl - Those second down runs with Smith were just so flipping awful, Speight was playing better and the OL was too for the most part in the 2nd half, I will risk a sack then sweep Smith out wide for a 3-4 yard loss anyway.

Speight - I was on his train but now I can very easily jump off if his performance doesn't improve a lot. Iowa he played like chit, OSU he played like chit, FSU, he played like chit. Pretty much 3 road game late in the year and he crumbled. I gave OSU a pass due to injury and inexperience, FSU he had people in his face early. Even his MSU performance was kind of meh looking at his stats. IDK, I can see both sides of the coin but just not sure what to think right now.

RB - Gross, Evans is fast and shifty but he goes down on first contact, Higdon got very little run and Isaac is meh. Walker has to be as good as his ranking or we muct get Najee Harris. Or it will be same ol same ol.

OL - How this unit has been so bad for so long is crazy, they are not the worst OL in the league but the are average at best. Whats it say about the guys that couldn't beat out some of the guys starting??? Cole and Breadeson will have more experience but we have seen and said that before. Don't see how we can be that far behind 30 other teams in this department, I think we only signed 8 OL in the last 3 recruiting classes?

Losing 4 games, 3 guy wrenching in the last 2 years looks to be becoming a trend, shows we don't have someone who can step up and make a play. Now that is talent but where does that talent need to be? QB seems the easiest choice, WR and RB. I dont expect frosh to be anchors on any team so 2 more years we have to wait, 3 years?

Hopefully the issue is just talent on offense but hell, there were serious defensive mistake last night and an awful ST one too. OSU the defense lets Samuel run all over the field when Peppers could have shot at him and taken him down but he froze. IDK, it seems like these big games it's always something, with Hoke is was always something in every game though.

It's hard to chalk all the close losses up to variance when there are such blatant errors as not calling timeout before FSU's last fourth down. Flushing such a large amount of WP down the toilet is inexcusable.

the timeout issue is super aggravating, he did it against Iowa too. he's generally fine with his 4th down decisions (except for last night, the 19 yarder was gross), but the timeout strategy is a glaring error

saying we have C+ in game coaches is hyperbole tho

I guess my question is do we consider gameplanning to be "in game strategy" or is that only game theory stuff? Still think Harbaugh is a great game-planner

He's great at designing plays but pretty meh when it comes to deciding when to call them.

The timeout thing, Bill Belichick is chitty too at times but he hasn't gotten burned yet. He ran good in the Superbowl and he also did the same thing years ago vs the Redskins but the Skins turned it over inside the 5 yard line.

It's still bad though, especially with the clock stopping after a first down in college.

O-Line was super disappointing last night to say the least. Ruiz is such an uber important recruit, he pretty much has to live up to his potential or else it's a world of hurt. I know centers rarely step in from day 1 but everything I've read about him says if there is someone who can do it, it's him.

Would have to imagine that Dawson and Kugler get their 5th years just based on depth issues.
