Do you know anything about Michigan sports besides what you pick up from watching games?

I think Auburn football has it about right. Hire a cheap coach and just spend the money on players.

The hiring of JB was an indicator that the program would have some attention paid to it, but you can't overcome years of neglect immediately.
Right, and isn't anyone impressed by what Amaker accomplished under these conditions?

2001–2002 Michigan 11–18 5–11 T-8th
2002–2003 Michigan 17–13 10–6 T-3rd
2003–2004 Michigan 23–11 8–8 T-5th NIT Champions
2004–2005 Michigan 13–18 4–12 9th
2005–2006 Michigan 22–11 8–8 T-6th NIT Runner-Up
2006–2007 Michigan 22–13 8–8 T-7th NIT 2nd Round
Michigan: 108–84 43–53

I mean he inherited a mess, coached almost the whole time with the team on probation, and he had three 20+ wins in his last five years. Maybe I'm just a beaten down Michigan fan, but give me a coach that can put together three 20+ win seasons every 5 years and I'll be happy. Firing Amarker was always weird to me. What he accomplished under the conditions he faced, was astonishing and commendable. Obviously this is an extremely superficial analysis, but by the numbers alone, I would've been more likely to give Amarker a raise than fire him.

That said, I still believe in Beilein. How we played against Kansas and Ohio State, gives me enough glimmer of hope. We probably still need to assassinate Izzo though.

Amaker was definitely a better recruiter. The '06 and '07 teams are representatives of that. And you have to remember in '03 and '04, we had Blanchard and BRJ as upperclassmen. Beilein has been picking it up, but we won't really see the result of that until next year or even the year after.

Wow, thread title really does deliver. How the **** does that happen. I wonder if that's a record low for a leading rebounder for a team in any game in the history of basketball. (Tried a quick google search and couldn't find anything)

I think we're witnessing history right now. An empire on the way down, and an empire on the way up. State's done. Izzo's done. It's over.

We all know this is gonna be another soul crushing loss by less than 5pts though. Pretty sure no team in the country has ran worse than us.
