Heard they want that cap space to carry over to next year to preserve the possibility of resigning Vernon/Miller (in addition to needing 6M to sign draft class)

I want to win and don't think we will with our guards

I'm not sure what I think the right decision is, after seeing how cheap he was... I see the reasoning for and against.

After rethinking what happened last season, I think we would have been 11-5 team if the defense hadn't fallen apart. Even with all of the offensive line problems, injuries, bad play... I really think we could have won 3 more games if the defense hadn't crumbled. I think we had a chance to make the playoffs last year with the OL we had, despite all the issues. What stopped us was the defense. Geno Smith perfect QBR... enough said.

I hear a lot of talk about how good this defense can/will be from the players and media. I am still skeptical. The defense was getting mowed down by scrubs last year. It was not good. The question remains - how much better does Suh make everyone else? Will Koa Misi ever be healthy? Is Chris McCain ready to start? Are Jamar Taylor or Will Davis ever going to do anything? What do we have in Walt Aikens? Is Cameron Wake going to get blown away in the run game again? Is Olivier Vernon actually good?

The guards are something to watch for sure, but I really wonder if these questions on defense aren't much more important.

I'm sad

I don't mind passing on Mathis. We're gonna be cap tight for a while with the Suh and Tannehill signings. That 6 mil is important to carry over. Our guards seems to be serviceable in training camp and preseason. You can't just throw money at every position in the NFL. At some point you need some draft picks to step up and fill some spots.

I think this Defense is going to be wayyy better than last year. The D-line starting 4 are crushing pockets this preseason. And the backups are good too. Phillips looks really good and Shelby is playing at a high level. The pressure they bring will make everyone elses job easier.

I'm pretty pumped for this season. No major injuries through preseason so far. Tannehill is throwing lasers. WRs look good even without Parker. Defense getting a lot of 3 and outs. Let's go playoffs!

I feel like the Dolphins and holes all over the front 7 that caused them to suck vs the run. Signing Suh let them go from a poor run D to a good+ one with one player.

LBs are still sketchy as ****. Zero confidence in Misi to stay healthy or play above like a B- level. Sheppard seems meh, I loved McCain but evidently he hasn't practiced well. We have Jelani Jenkins and an array of question marks.

Jenkins is good, maybe not elite but above average and excellent in coverage. Misi is solid when healthy. The 3rd LB is really the question mark. They seem to like Sheppard over McCain because he's inconsistent. Overall I don't hate it though. It's one of our weakest positions but it's not that bad.

Jay Ajayi finally gets over the bad hammy only to crack a rib :/

I read something about Mike Tomlin said about Trent Richardson that he doesn't deliver punishment, he absorbs punishment and he'd never make it. I worry that might be the case for Ajayi when I see him play. He looks like he's taking more than he gives.

Should be a fun year. I'm a little more optimistic than I was before, I think Suh maybe improves the defense more than I thought.

Continued improvement of Tannehill and the arrival Suh are the main catalysts of any improvement. Other random keys to the season are health on the offensive line and linebacker.

5-1+ in the first 6 games or trouble is on the horizon.

Reshad Jones looking good, rest of the defense picking up where they left off getting mowed down. First half was a complete abomination.

yeah the only positive i can say is jordan cameron looks solid

but the rest of the teams on both sides have been awful

Reshad Jones is probably going to the pro bowl if healthy. Hope we can put that complaint to bed.
