Id rather not tard up this thread with back and forth, but if your interested in trading for 2016 cash and/or prospects, I'm interested.

Tomas and chunk of 2016 cash would be possible for a couple of bats.

Got a pre-confirmation counter, going to have to withdraw that last bid.

New Official Bid: I trade you Jayson Werth for Alex Wood straight up.

I wanted to see if anyone objects to my rule interpretation. I want to demote two rookie pitchers who are currently on my 30-man roster. One demotion would open up space for a trade, the other would open up a spot for me to bid on an additional player in auction.

I believe this is a legal transaction.

I present the following evidence from the rules:

Quote:
8) Teams are forbidden from making cuts to clear roster space during the FA auction.
Doesn't mention trades or demotions.

Quote:
2) The player can only be placed back on the minor league roster if he breaks training camp at the beginning of the next season in the minors
This is exactly what happened with the two players named below.

Ipso facto, juris prudential, etc.

I think these things should be done prior to or after the auction for obvious reasons.

Can you state the obvious reasons?

I kinda agree with NDFan. I don't have any "obvious reasons" other than you had those guys on your 30-man roster and it seems like a de facto "cut" with the overall goal of opening up roster space, which is the spirit of the rule. Seems most fair that you could demote them after the auction and pick up players with FAAB (which is what anyone would have to do with a known DL player they're carrying - ex: Garrett Richards on my team).

I guess in your defense, almost all of these IRL optioning of players to minor league camp would be expected to occur after the start of our auction, or at the very least after any reasonable date that our cuts would be due.

It makes sense to me that you would be able to do this. I understand what ND saying is that its a little messy but I think it is fair. If not we are going to need to write it in because what you're suggesting also seems to follow the letter.

So if I read SRM's initial post right, that's Corey Seager for $439 and four MLB starters. Is that the current offer?

so that offer is accepted? ie 48 hour window is going? or is this just like winter meetings/tradeblock kind of thing.

just in case that is accepted and to get this out there, i have no issues with you selling off your roster, but not sure i can get behind this as a way to do it.

obviously you'll get some counter offers, but it's just odd/sub optimal to try and rush dealing off that volume of players in a group package right now when demand is probably at the lowest it will be. i have no idea where it'll end up with counters and what not, and this i'm sure goes without saying but i don't think it's close to being reasonable at the moment and would definitely vote to veto..

shrug, i just dont see it being good for the league or for your team.

I agree with Exit. We've never had a deal like this go through with this type of timing and degree of imbalance.

No matter how much you may value Seager, it's a bizarre trade to make in the middle of the auction after you just won 3/4 of those guys. Why competitively bid to build a roster that you blow up for a single asset a few days later?

Its definitely a trade that favors me greatly, is no one trying to one up me out of protest for this method of "trading"?

If this isn't gonna fly let's all figure it out so I can adjust my auction accordingly.

This league has gotten a little crazy, all trades must be presented and confirmed in thread and then withstand a 48 hour period. No trade involving Rack or SRM has even been confirmed yet. You guys need to confirm it first, then it goes on the clock for 48 hours. As of right now, all I see is some trade talks that would normally be done via PM. "offers" are not trade announcements.

I do not think we have a deal at present just trying to figure out what the **** is going on. Let's give SRM a little break since he is new here.

If he clicks confirm then I'd expect 48 hours for counters no doubt.

I know he is new, so just want to make sure he understands the rules. I think the style in which he is electing to sell off his his team is -ev as well, but as long as he follows the rules, its up to the market to counter. And I firmly believe a better offer will come his way. However I think if he waited until after the draft he would possibly see more offers, myself included.
