You can cut a player anytime you want during the year. If it is not during the auction then he is on waivers. You can make a waiver claim conditional to a cut. There is no limitation.

Before the auction runs out of decent options, figured I would throw this out there. If your interested in Loney, Ryan Howard, Buhrle, Jason Castro or Tommy Hunter (or some or all together), I will trade them and cover this years and next years salary for a good rookie (or high pick or prospect) or two (obviously with Howard the rookies or prospects or picks will have to be better)..

Im summery, I have tons of cash and my team sucks

just to repeat what i said to you on aim (asked danvh to post his Q here so we get it out in the open)

anyone who is a rookie before the season starts and is not on a roster can't be added to a roster until NEXT YEAR's rookie draft and/or FA auction depending on his eligiblity status

Other leagues I play in have a cutoff during the auction. After that point you can't make any more cuts, and that works quite well. I think it's good to be able to make a cut or two depending how the auction goes - if you miss out on the last elite player you might want to cut someone so you can add a couple of good players I instead or whatever.

meh that's not really an effective solution. it's an awk spot. i think a cutoff near the end of the draft (say when all teams are 27 or 28 of 30) could be better, but still seems arbitrary.
