you ignored steals, and are probably underrating the difference of 50 points in AVG

also, I'm confident that however Zips projects guys (+ a reasonable playing time projection) is better than how you or I can do by whatever qualitative method we think feels right

well, I use Last Player Picked for my valuations. I think their 2010 Composite Projections, adjusted for Tango's crowd sourced playing time projections, is the best tool we have. it is in their drop down menu.

they also have an option to edit stats. if you do that, and edit Byrd slightly better to reflect his upward trend (which Zips recognizes) and Dunn slightly down (ditto, ditto) you come out with 2 similar players, and Byrd might even be better depending on settings

You're fast, and replied to a post I deleted cause it was dumb.

i just can't get behind Marlon Byrd being better than Adam Dunn. OBP >> BA !! WOBA!

but yea, standard cats i guess i concede that you're right.

I def. like team A's end here. As for your team, I would dangle either Headley or Freese is front of someone with a closer, Lindstrom or more preferably gregg to get yourself a bigger bat. You can keep whichever one you dont trade to play third base. If you can move gregg plus one of them to a team that needs a closer + an OF or third basemen I think you should be able to get a pretty damn good bat in return given how hot they have been so far.

What do we think of Jason Bay? I might be able to get him on the cheap, but I'm not sure how much value is left in his bat.

He'll pick up the pace. If you get him for cheap, do it.

Niemann + Aardsma (points league, I'd pick up Clippard or Meek for RP)

If you have another competent closer or two aside from Aardsma, then do it.

If Headley/Pena are taking the same UTIL spot or whatever, I hope you realize the gigantic difference in F%.

Even in a standard league I like the Pena side by a good margin. In your league this is a bloodbath.

I used Headley at 3b and have Cantuu at 1b with 3b eligibility so I just swap them around with Pena, and yes I am well aware of the diff in F%

I think it's pretty even either way. Depends on what each team needs.

--------------

Received offer.

I get: Kemp, Zimmerman, Ricky Romero
I give: Longoria, Ichiro, David Price

I like my offense gain since I gain HRs and RBIs (my offensive weaknesses). But I think I might need a better pitcher to accept this deal. Other notable pitchers on his team include Kershaw, Gallardo and Peavy.

Opinions?

Kemp >>>>>>>>>> Ichiro
Longoria > Zimm but they are really the same guy pretty much, Longo is marginally better cause of his speed
Price > Romero I live in Toronto, and Romero def has the stuff. His change is ******edly good, but he can be wild. Neither arm is proven, Price is way more touted so he gets the nod (tho romero was a 7th overall pick, so its not like he didnt have hype way back when)

Am I overrating Price or underrating Romero? I was thinking that Romero was just running well.

With all the run support the Rays are giving, you gotta think that Rays' pitchers are locks for wins.

Trade Jake Peavy for Aramis Ramirez? Is there hope for the guy? I need desperate help at 2B and 3B. I have Gordon Beckham and Alberto Callaspo starting (with B.Roberts on DL).

Pull the trigger. I think A-Ram is gonna start coming around shortly. Seems to be hitting the ball pretty hard from what I read. Just not getting the hits.

I lead the league, and am in top 4 in all stats except for saves, HRs, and RBIs. I'm kind of in a "if it ain't broke" mindset right now, but Zobrist is pissing me off and I'm certainly not a huge fan of my OF. I guess the short question is, is Zobrist going to be a great buy low for him, or was he a one season wonder? If he picks up he's obviously going to help me in the HR/RBI arena.
Pretty much the same position as this post from a while ago, except I've dropped to second. Swisher of today is pretty enticing, but who knows what Swisher of tomorrow will be. Zobrist is still pissing me off. Any thoughts on some sort of Zobrist/Swisher package?

Yah I have some strong thoughts, don't even think about it! Swisher is fine and all, but he's like a career .250 hitter. Unless he is by far the worse player in a 2 person deal or something it's not even worth considering. Don't trade him unless you are getting an elite player... just because this guy has been aggressive doesn't mean other people won't jump if you make it clear that you are willing to move him. Remember, 2nd base/ SS are probable 2 of the 3 toughest positions to get good production out of, and OF and is probably the the most abundant position in terms of talent. To give you an idea, a guy in my league rejected my offer of Nelson Cruz and Randy Wolf for Zobrist. That isn't to say that is the most accurate depiction of Zobrists value, you need to get at least one elite/borderline elite player to trade zobrist. Swisher might be his 2nd worst outfielder, and his outfield isn't very good to begin with so there is no way you want him as part of this deal.

I would probably just sit on Zobrist. He is legit, the Rays seems legit, and trading him after a meh start probably isnt the most optimal strategy, especially when your team has been performing well. If you want to move him, make sure you are getting at least one super strong piece. If OF continues to plague you, you should be able to get a Werth/Either calibur outfield when they aren't en fuego instead of someone like swisher. Just don't move him unless you get an offer significantly upgrades another weak area of your team.
