Was that Devante Adams in Rd. 11?! Not sure who you meant there.
Ya, that's Devante but all of those picks were keepers from the last year.

Ya tough to see you missing the playoffs with that squad.

So I'm in my first ever keeper league and we are drafting for season 2. I'm pretty happy with my team and if I needed an upgrade it would be at TE where I current have Eifert, Reed and Fleener to choose between.

I'm drafting from the 7 spot in a non snake and currently the following have gone:

1.01 Gordon
1.02 Gurley
1.03 Agholor
1.04 Yeldon
1.05 Cooper
1.06 Coleman

So...do I bite the bullet and take one of White/Parker for the future or do I take Abdullah or one of Mariota/Winston to backup my QBs (Big Ben, Bridgewater, Flacco and Bradford)?

RB depth is good with AP/Shady/Forte/Ivory and Brown/Rodgers to handcuff Shady and Forte. WR depth isn't as good but I have Antonio/Tate/Adams/LaFell/Floyd/Harvin so it's okay. Sorted at everywhere else (Crosby at K, Eagles & Bills on DEF) so not looking there.

Thoughts?

Had a LOLStandard 10-team draft Thursday night. It's the only Standard league I'm in, so I don't really have a good feel for it. Most of my leagues start 3WR, but this one starts 2. So I was guessing that I should load up on RBs instead of WRs.

Read on the Group: They are bad, but improving. A few years ago, Eli went in the 1st round as QB6 off the board. After last year's draft, I felt as if it was tougher than in year's past.

QB, 2WR, 2RB, TE, W/R/T, D, K, 7 Bench Spots, 2IR
6-Pt Passing TDs
-3 for turnovers
1 pt per 20 yards passing
No PPR (duh, LOL Standard)

Inflate My Balls
1. (5) Le'Veon Bell (Jamaal, Hill, ABrown)
2. (16) Aaron Rodgers (Dez, Gronk, Cobb)
3. (25) T.Y. Hilton (DHop, Lamar, Cooks)
4. (36) Mark Ingram (Randle, Gore, Emmanuel)
5. (45) Greg Olsen (Hyde, Kelce, Doug Martin)
6. (56) Golden Tate (Vereen, Gurley)
7. (65) Sammy Watkins (Blount, Jennings, Amari)
8. (76) Giovani Bernard (6 Defenses, Landry, Spiller)
9. (85) Alfred Blue (Marshall, VJax, Duke Johnson)
10. (96) Jeremy Maclin (Edelman, Larry Fitz, Decker)
11. (105) Joique Bell (Sankey, Teddy, Ronnie Hillman)
12. (116) Torrey Smith (Davonte, Smith Sr, David Johnson)
13. (125) Colin Kaepernick (Wallace, Funchess, Garcon)
14. (136) Knile Davis (Rudolph, Tre Mason, Josh Hill)
15. (145) Cody Parkey
16. (156) New York

Upsetting Picks
5.2 Davante Adams (Had him queued up for 5.5)
8.1 Arian Foster (Really thought he'd make it back to me at 8.6)

I have a few other thoughts (but I'll wait to hear yours), but I'm generally clueless when it comes to Standard.

-Going Gore>Ingram in Rd 4 no question.
-Was hesitant on Rodgers in round 2 but with the increased QB scoring seems fine.
-Foster should be gone FAR before the 8th at this point IMO... the latest reports are saying he should see the field between week 2-4. I would have been looking at him in the 5th and snapping him off in the 6th (and breaking my finger snapping him off in the 7th)
-Also think I am taking Amari > Watkins, anyone > Gio, Vjax or Marshall > Blue...

-The Blue pick is the one I really don't understand...there are multiple top 20-30 WRs still on the board, and tons of RBs on the board that are far more valuable than him (since you took Joique 2 rounds later, Even someone like Tre Mason in the 14th I think is more valuable)

Does it make sense to take Bell over the other 3 top tier RBS only under the contingency of getting a solid RB2 and picking up d-will as a cutoff?
I have 2nd pick 14 team ppr and first pick is taking Rodgers.
I know bell is the best out of the 4 but j can't wrap my head around throwing away 2 games potentially. On the flip side, I'm not particularly ecstatic with either of the other 3 picks.

Are you confident you can manage your team to the playoffs in this particular league? if so then there should be no reservations about taking Leveon, especially if you don't particularly like the other top RBs (and it seems like you should be confident in your ability to manage a team to a playoff spot given the 1st pick is going rodgers lol). Also not sure if your RB 2 strength is relevant to your first rounder.

It also isn't that difficult to find 2 games worth of production.. Look at guys like Tre Mason as well who may have more of a role early in the season.

yeah that's what i'm thinking. i'm looking at ADP and seeing starting rookie rbs that have good potential. i'm thinking to take bell and have either:
a.) two solid starting rbs to fill the mold for the two week gap
b.) one starting rb and then picking up williams as cuff for first two weeks so i still can follow flow to pick up depth in every position.

for pick 2 i'm thinking: rb, wr, wr, rb, wr, qb, te and so on...
i guess i just have to get over the fact that i'm not going to get a stud TE without losing value in depth in other categories.

In 14 teamers I wouldn't lock yourself into a strategy in terms of what positions you are taking where. Value is most important as everyone is going to have mediocre starters in at least one spot.

its common advice but I think it is especially true in larger leagues; I want to be either one of the first to take a QB/TE or the last.

Good Morning,

Want some insight on a trade offer.

This is a standard scoring league and I am being offered

Brandon Marshall and Jordan Cameron

for

Grahm.

Thoughts on this?

Edit: if it helps my starting receivers right now are Kennan hill and Jordan Matthews

Mostly ok, some small missteps here and there, but 8 and 9 seem really bad with guys like Spiller and BMarsh available. Maclin in 10 helps make up for it a little. Kaep seems like spew too, Mason or Garcon there would be much better imo. Also think you have to go RB with one of those 6/7 picks in this setup.

Yeah. I agree with all of that from both of you guys. It was on Yahoo, and I wasn't used to their default rankings. I hate pretty much the majority of my team.

I like the core of the team. I'll manage the team in season better than almost all of the rest of the league. Thankfully, it was draft 1 of 6 and my lowest buy in. I appreciate the feedback.

Yea looks good, seems to be the common strategy around here.

Really comes down to getting lucky on the mid tier RB crop this year. I like a lot of those guys and have drafted them a bunch, but it's possible we don't get 1 top 10-15 rb out of that entire group.

I still agree with the strategy and like your team, just do the same thing 10 times and you'll get ~7 elite teams.

So you're a Clemson fan?

You're an above average team w/ your WRs but RB2 is weak and RB depth is weak. Definitely should have taken a RB instead of Quick.

Just did my first draft this year. Didn't exactly go the way I thought. Okay but not great.

10 team standard QB/2 RB/2WR/Flex/Def/K picking from the 7 spot. Definitely think the earlier you draft the better. Not for the first pick but for the wraparound picks. Early pickers get 3 legitimate studs but lower pickers not so much. I think I did okay.

QB Ryan Tannehill MIA (9) ((Vereen, Manning , Crowell)
RB Marshawn Lynch SEA (1)(Brown, Bryant, McCoy)
RB Jeremy Hill CIN (2) (Forte, Luck, D. Thomas)
WR Alshon Jeffery CHI (3) (Ingram, Morris, Tate)
WR Brandin Cooks NO (4)(Matthews, Graham, P. Manning)
TE Jordan Cameron MIA (8)(Cruz, Watkins, Jennings)
K Caleb Sturgis MIA (16) lol kicker
Flex T.J. Yeldon JAX (5)(D.Adams, Spiller, Stafford)
TDSP Miami Dolphins MIA (15) lol defense

Bench Brandon Marshall NYJ (6) (Olsen, Landry, Kelce)
Bench Jeremy Maclin KC (7)(Ryan, Ellington, M. Bennett)
Bench Ryan Mathews PHI (10)(HOU def, Bradford, Wallace)
Bench Bishop Sankey TEN (11)(M. Jones, D. Johnson, Prater)
Bench Tyler Eifert CIN (12)(Woodhead, Etrz, PHI def)
Bench Eddie Royal CHI (13) (NYJ def, Boldin, Gray)
Bench Ronnie Hillman (14) (l. Green, Haushka, Gates)

Wanted Julio in round 2 but went the pick before me. Wasn't expecting/planning to go rbrb but I think Lynch/Hill very strong tandem for a flex league. Thought hard about taking Brown but I said if a top 5 rb fell I would take so I did. As Bears fan DID NOT want Alshon. Don't trust his health and not loving him as the #1 option. But he was best option at the time and going rbrb made me get best wr available. I really wanted Bradford for backup QB but he went in the 10th to a guy already having Luck. Streaming a backup QB is fine though as long as Tannehill lives up to last year and improves again. Wanted Landry in the 7th but he went as soon as I picked Marshall. If I thought he would have gone that quick I woulda taken him over Marshall.

Rounds 5 through 8 are a bitch this year as there is nobody that really stands out to me.

Couple of best balls. PPR, QBs are 4/-1, 20 yards per point.

QB/2rb/3wr/flex/te/def

This one was from 5/12

Charles
Jordy (siiiiiiigh)
Hopkins
Ellington
Gurley
Wallace
Vereen
Perriman
Tanny
Floyd (think this was my first pick after Jordy news)
Eifert
Stills
Cutlah
K. Davis
Clay
Broncos
Panthers
Steelers
Amaro
Hoyer

Full draft

Feel like I would have liked this so much better if I took a WR instead of either Ellington or Gurley. Andre, Allen, Bryant, Marshall, Edleman went between the two. ARob, Tate, Agholor, Watkins, DJax, Landry went not long after Gurley.

This one was from 10/12

Marshawn
Calvin
Cooks
Jimmy
Landry
Bryant (siigh)
Woodhead
Blue (liked this a lot better when I thought Foster would be out longer)
Rivers
Julius
Helu
Bush
Cutlah
FJax
Baldwin
Iggles
Panthers
Hoyer
Probably some flier RB/WR.. possibly a lynch handcuff
3rd defense

Full draft

Like this one a lot better. RB2 spot is... lacking, but I feel like I got a decent group of pass catching RBs and with a best ball format hopefully one of that group can go like 4-22-0/3-20-.5 each week. Feel like my WR/TE/Flex spots should be pretty solid and help make up some of that up
