Why won't God heal amputees? Why won't God heal amputees?

It wouldn't matter to me. I'm not hyperfixated on miracles.

If you read the book of Acts it says God accredited Jesus with his words, signs and wonders.

With most people their actions speak louder than their words and frequently belie them.

Jesus says the most marvelous things and his actions never belie his words. I've always paid more attention to his words than his miracles.

If God does a miracle good but if he doesn't it's good also because faith in the goodness of God and submission to his will is the important thing.

Check out the Lord's Prayer. The Lord isn't praying for miracles. He's praying for God's will to be done.

I am not impressed.

Before this latest study came out, there were studies showing that prayer DID help people.

Moreover, I believe that these studies fall under the sin of "testing God."

If I was seriously sick, personally, I would take no part in such a thing.

Do the studies showing prayer helped fall under testing God?

Why is it when God doesn't help its because we are testing him. But sometimes he does help when we are testing him.

They made up his words (and the miracles).

Not even the most liberal scholars such as the Jesus seminar believe that all of Jesus' words were "made up."

But it is so easy to assert wild things, isn't it?

Doggg, the placebo effect has been shown to help people, so simply "helping people" is not sufficient evidence or reasoning to believe something is true or authentic.

In fact the case may be that all prayer is actually an exercise in the placebo effect.

When I read about it it was stated that the prayer did actually worse than the placebo.

If prayer could cure illness, please explain why clergymen have health insurance.

God uses Wal-Mart's strategy for health care..

You're pretty much on your own.

That prompted me to wonder, what minimum level of effectiveness would prayer need to have before clergymen would publicly abandon health insurance (and doctors) and rely on prayer healing of themselves and their families?

Would they do it if prayer were effective 10% of the time?

Would they do it if prayer were effective 25% of the time?

Would they do it if prayer were effective 50% of the time?

You know, like semi-bluffing (only different).
