"being a creator" != Christian God or other established religion. For all I know, there could be a God who created the first chain reaction that set matter off into its eventual course of human beings, but never intervened in any way afterwards and let nature take its course. That is what I mean by no evidence against a "creator of some kind"

I didn't want to post that here because I don't want to put bunny in a spot that he doesn't want to be in, like having to explain himself to everyone who has questions or whatever. But he posted it himself a few days ago so figured I'd ask if I was late to the party.

I still remember enough of my Catholic catechism classes that I could pretend to be a theist if you want. I would be pretty objectionable though.

What sustained my theism was always a spiritual experience which I took to be communing with God. This has both decreased in frequency and power over the last few months (maybe since Christmas?).

Recent musings led me to realise that I no longer have the same interpretation of those experiences. Your comment in the 'paedophoilia' thread (and luckyme's comments over the last half dozen years or so) provided a kind of 'pivot point' - I came to see my usage of belief in a similar way to luckyme (ie as an equivocation) and that was enough for me to shift my perspective. Now I consider myself to have occasional weird experiences which feel like there's something else there - but they are not persuasive to me. I dont think they are actually due to anything other than me.

But bunny, you have to give the spirit a chance to work within you.

my discussions with luckyme stretch back over a good five or six years, I think - it was more a cumulative effort in that case. This thread (near the end) was where I finally realised I was an atheist - I doubt there's much in there which would specifically count as a trigger on it's own though.

Do I actually post in RGT anymore? When I get busy, I cut back on the threads that I don't care as much about, and last time this happened the threads I stayed with weren't in RGT, so I was slow coming back here. But now my interest in the others forums are dying, so I'm coming back home.
