you believe it, and if you have any interest in convincing others of the sincerity of that belief (and it seems like you do), you would do well to behave like it.

Jesus saying offensive stuff doesn't give you a free pass. Also, FWIW, Jesus tended to be most sarcastic and scathing toward religious leaders who tried to bash people over the head with the law, and was generally quite compassionate toward "sinners." Hmmmm.
Let's play a game then - you go ahead and find passages where Jesus is a sarcastic jerk to a non-believer, then, for every passage you find, I'll find two where he suggests being kind, compassionate, loving, gentle, forgiving, humble, etc. We'll see who runs out first.
