Biotech isn't lol zombies, crispr is lol zombies and lolsuper bugs. I work in biotech, and all I can say is people be tripping over themselves to give me money to tell them they don't have a clue what it really takes to go commercial.

last week a colleague had a great idea: we were talking about this protein HIPPO, a key part of pathway conserved in humans and most animals, which is hijacked by legionella during infection. but hippo mutants don't survive in animals except for drosophila, so she was like "just put it in drosophila" and someone else said, "we can't because it might escape the lab and lead to a pandemic" and she's like, "nah c'mon we'll be careful"

turns out we're not gonna do it but i was game

that would be the children's hospital sector

wisski works in industry and i'd be surprised if he's growing his industrial product in humans but i wouldn't put it past the trump admin to allow it

SA is right "industrial biotech" basically commodity scale materials similar to what impossible burger is doin but in less sexy areas like agri business and manufacturing support.
