So I started as a hobby when my son was born and that's why I stopped posting much is because of him and later his sister coming along I haven't read the forums much. Anyhow I'd be up with him in the nights sometimes to give my wife a break and let her get some sleep without a baby waking her up and it grew from there. I'd stream a few hours and break when he'd need some milk.
I was lucky in that I stumbled into streaming 2K in 2K17 when the auction house streams were really big so I gained about 5K followers in those first few months and have over 10K currently. I think most people starting out even high skill players rarely luck into that much growth early on.
I've had a few donos and bit cheers upwards of $500 pre viewer and have probably made about $5K total streaming in my spare time when I would have been gaming anyways.
I've been rather lucky and what you said is right. Look up any popular game and scroll on down there are tons and tons of streamers with 1 or 0 viewers on there and many have bought the nice PC, the web cam, the top quality mic, streaming capture card etc etc and are just in massive debt expecting to break big.

I agree with JMitchelle42 he's got his loyals and he's having fun plus some money for gaming or whatever that's perfect if someday his stream grows great but he's having fun as it is and that's what matters.
I've looked at some of the clips man your stream looks nice and clean I'm still hoping to come in and get to know you and your chat someday soon with the two little ones my viewing time is pretty low these days.

Yeah that's another factor if you have someone that pulls a lot of viewers that befriends you and is willing to host / raid your stream when they are done on a given day it can really help you get a lot of new followers and growth.
I personally would compare streaming to busking in that people may or may not be entertained by what you do and those that wish to do so will drop a few bucks and maybe return the next day if you are still there.
I've read " streaming is this generation's starting a band " I think that's true for a lot of college age and younger people. I tell them when they ask me don't stop going to school or quit your job over it just do it for fun and stream off your current PC, PS4 / Xbox etc and see if it's for you and if and when you have success then think about reinvesting into your setup if you feel it's necessary at that point.
One last thought if your a hot woman you'll get viewers and if you are willing to do " thot " type behavior on stream you'll get even more. A lot of the gals are pretty much camgirls for teens so they don't get naked but they body paint, wear yoga pants and find a million reasons to bend over, do stuff that might get them a temp ban but ultimately gets them a larger audience because if it's outrageous enough the world will spread and all the horny guys and gals will tune in for the next peep show. That side of Twitch is really a different animal than the guy hoping on and playing a game he loves and hanging out with a community.
