There are sliding doors for inside, Daz?

I wouldn't have thought of pocket for exterior until I saw it on a home improvement show. It looks amazing, and in the summer there is this amazing unimpeded indoor/outdoor connection that here, in the land of 10,000 lakes means summer nights on your comfy couch, but with a perfect view of the water.

I just got it.

This is funny because ATL is on a bye week

Tone seems sarcastic - but isn't that exactly what you're arguing for with the swinging rather than sliding door?

The only sliding doors for an exterior that I've ever seen are conservatory doors which are no good because they don't open the whole space. Obviously you could have them, but surely it would be a bitch to keep the weather out, unless they're sliding on the outside.

Just saw this post. Your no-marriage now makes sense. Why buy the cow when you get the laundry done for free?

I kinda like these.

I was talking about internal doors, but the swing out will be an opening twice as wide, and tucked outside out of view. Clearly superior, aesthetically.

I like those too J, but she doesn't want wood grain. The exterior is currently canary yellow, she likes it.

If you're spending ~ as much time outside as inside then internal vs external swing is ~ equal wrt space, but I will give you that aesthetically out swinging is >>> interior.

Those are nice. Without the tacky 5x8 mini-windows. That would eliminate a reason why I'd prefer sliding.

You should do a grand designs style garage door of glass. Huge open space when it's open

Is she hoping for another strong colour/does she have good taste?

You mentioned "bedroom number and resale value" in your basement design...so you're not planning on staying there forever.

And, lol small sample size, but humbly, Canary yellow, plus those chairs, plus that mat, plus those flower boxes and deck colour don't work.

I've seen some crazy mixes pulled together by genius design, but if she's not a genius designer, anything but white or wood (which ever matches the rest of your house) might be a lot of personality for resale.

I've posted pictures of our house when it was clean, let me see if I can find them...

Pocket doors are good because they save space and let you put stuff in areas that'd be blocked if you had a door swinging open into the room. Obv not for an external door though.

My parents have an "invisible screen" on their front door which is a pocket screen door which increases curb appeal since your fancy front door isn't covered up by an ugly screen door.

Lol we have rolling screen on the doors now, very convenient.

Double lion entrance.

Yeah, that's a multi-unit --- as such not in A+ condition exactly.

There are other better examples in the neighborhood, but further away. If I think of it & take a walk later this week I'll get some pics.
