u could come up with an approximation for whether the lotto would be be +ev or not this way maybe? if u are given the number of tickets sold, and the size of the prize pool, u could calculate the number of expected winners (or the probability of any given number of winners depending on what ur interested in). u divide the prize pool byt the number of winners. assume no taxes and not paying attention to smaller vicotires for fewer numbers. if prize pool/ number of expected winners > 176 million, it is reasonable to think that buying a ticket is +ev
