Vegas Vlog thread (Trooper et all) Vegas Vlog thread (Trooper et all)

I have watched him deal once and played poker with him twice.

Excellent dealer. Personable and kept game moving efficiently despite getting ribbed by some local pros who were there to take advantage of last day of Linq promo.

Played 2-5 with him at Bellagio (looked uncomfortable and out of his element). Played once with him at PH. Both times he played very few pots.

Unsolicited advice:

Blend in better.
Drop the hats.
Stop the fancy chip shuffling.
Look more relaxed.
Act like a tourist.

Even though I knew who he was and believe him to be a decent guy his image at the table sent a different vibe. I would have pegged him as a local nit if i didnt know otherwise.

I love the vlogs. The only problem I see is volume. If you throw 2 months of degen hours into 1/2 you should be rolled for 2/5. Then, you don't need the job. GL to the Trooper.

Time for a readers' poll:

Are you insulted that Troop will no longer post his vlog on 2+2?

Are you insulted that Troop thinks you are too stupid to find him and comment on YouTube?

Are you insulted that he actually believes we actually believe he isn't continuously monitoring this thread?

Will he ever repay his backer?

Are you surprised that he spends more every day on coffee than on his mattress?

Are you surprised he hasn't seen the inside of the gym yet?

Troop,

There's no shame in cutting back on the poker and focusing on a job that will for sure pay a higher hourly than you are getting playing live cash. Use that to save up some money up for furniture so you can live in a home that you can take pride in. From there build a REAL bank roll (15k+) and study up on poker strategy in the interim.

If you don't own a bed or have any furniture in your apartment I don't think you have any business sitting at a cash game with a $1k stack. Unless you have $50k+ cash, sitting with a $1k stack is a pretty degenerate and foolish move. If you only have $10k to your name you have no business sitting with a stack greater than $200 at a time IMO. That's obviously a significant amount of your overall net worth.

You said it yourself that a 1.4k loss would have really hurt you and put you in a bad spot. If someone shoves on you, your decision to call is based on calling off 10%+ of your life savings. You should not be playing with a stack that can hurt your overall financial situation. Bankroll management is poker101 and it seems like that has been a recurring issue through the entire series of the vlog.

Also, why not look in to fixing some holes in your game? Maybe cash games aren't for you. Perhaps your ABC tight game is more suited for tournament play. Humble yourself to admit that maybe you aren't the poker pro that you want to be at the time.

And to all the die-hard pro-Trooper squad. I understand you like his content. As do I, I am a Trooper fan but I can't just egg him on to keep doing the same **** over and over. It's not doing him any favors gassing him up and acting like what he's doing is normal or like he is actually on the brink of making it big in poker. When he wins $300 people hoot and holler 'there ya go troop you got this finally proving the haters wrong' and the next 2 days he loses $500 back to back and you tell him 'its ok troop that happens no big deal just keep at it thats just variance!'. That's just enabling and encouraging him to continue on a -EV path.

Edit:
This is all just my opinion and insight from what i've seen over time. I know troop will write me off as a hating troll and continue doing everything the same as always and continuing down the path that he's on.

^For someone writing his very first post you sure know a lot about what is going on in this thread. Looks like someone has a new sn.

Also it's weird how the trolls are saying he plays ABC or plays like an OMC.

I just saw the latest vid. I saw that he will no longer be posting the vids here. I rarely get on this thread anymore, primarily due to the garbage Tim mentioned in the vlog. It's made this thread unusable and irrelevant. Too bad, as I had enjoyed (in the beginning) the discussion about the videos.

The sad thing is, I've read some very positive and constructive advice, but it gets lost in the sea of crap people are spewing.

Couple of points....

If you think you need 10k to be playing 1/2 with a $200 max buyin, then you failed Bankroll Management 101.

With fans like you, who needs trolls.

tomf's post is way too well thought out to be one of the previous troll accounts in this thread. A troll just got banned yesterday but those posts were night and day from this one.

Trooper, I just wanted to make a suggestion in regards to your "Not Affraid to Go Deep" video. The shots taken at the poker table did not present an accurate story of what was going on. The first shot showed that you had in excess of $1k and your stack went up from there. So then when you came out and said you lost $400+ your viewers are left thinking "WTF?!?!"

Ideally, you would show your stack throughout the night ie $300--->$0 --->$300--->$0 --->$300--->$0 --->$300--->$0 --->$300--->$100--->300--->$1300+ I'm sure that's too much work but just some visuals to show that you struggled early and crushed late would have been a pretty epic way to tell the story of your night at the poker table.

I can tell you his total from June 26-Sept 8 is.....+594.

I'll try and go all the way back to the beginning of the year. It shouldn't be too hard but he did have that 60+ vlog in a row where he played a decent amount.

Yes, I do think you need $10k min to play $200 buyin. If you don't have AT LEAST $10k, you are one life hiccup away from being broke. If that is your financial standing it's not wise to be gambling in the first place. If you are a 'pro' player and your networth is 10k or less, you aren't a very good pro and should look in to other career options.

If you think buying in with >2% of your net worth is not degenerate the joke is on you.

And I'm not a troll and this isn't a duplicate user name.

I may have been wrong about his $1 win rate. He might be pushing $2/hr.

and if he wasn't constantly tipping $1 on tiny flop take down pots like you see over and over again in his table videos, he might could double that win rate.

definitely not worth the effort to create a gimmick

Wait....what? I've been following this thread and trooper apparently since only the 2014 thing (watched his thetrooper97 vlogs from beginning in a binge watch session a while ago, read all of this thread, watched pretty regularly for a bit, then stopped watching mostly and followed this thread).

SOMEHOW I missed all the info in the pre-2014 stuff from your post here. He won a 40k bbeat jackpot and blew it? He moved to Florida? How did you ge those hourly rates? Where is all the detail here from? Are there vlogs on those times? If so, links please? Would be super grateful for as much info on the pre-2014 stuff!! Tyvm!!!

He forgot to mention him and Harry playing SNGs at the WSOP a couple years ago and they won something like 30K each I believe?

Thanks for this. Most of us forget that Trooper was on this journey well before he came to Vegas in 2014.

You missed everything pre-2014 like most of us did because Trooper decided to delete those vlogs.

So at this point, what is more interesting, The Trooper's story of moving to Vegas and living the "dream" as a poker grinder, or the drama in this thread?
09-10-2016 , 01:02 PM
Funny thing about the "drama" is that it's all in this thread. Trooper's life looks as dramaless as can be for a single guy in Vegas. Besides "addressing" the haters from time to time, I doubt a little Internet **** talk is affecting him on the level some of you want it to.

Personally, I think the longer and more repetitive this story gets, the more perfect it becomes. Yes, its disappointing for Tim but its the perfect LVL thread for reference when all those "I'm moving to LV for LLSNL" threads appear.

I always think back to when NCJ was voicing his opinion that Troop should vlog less and study more. That's absolutely great advice for improving the win rate but I think we are all to results oriented. So what if his results were better, how different would the story go? AKAD moved out of Vegas too. Grinders are all a bad back or loss of motivation away from being ****ed and unable to grind. I know I'm the silent drummer boy in the corner but I still maintain Tim has done the best thing he could do while chasing Vegas and that's develop another skill.

Correct facts, conclusion is still a guess ... unless it isn't.
